The feud between Kay Burley and the hosts of This Morning has reached an all-time high after she clapped back at their mockery over her FIRING FROM SKY NEWS due to her appearance: “You’ve messed with the wrong person…”

Kay Burley, a veteran broadcaster with over three decades of experience at Sky News,

has responded to a pointed remark made by *This Morning* regular Camilla Tominey regarding her recent departure from the network.

The comments, made in an online article, have sparked a bitter social media row between the two women.

Burley’s reaction to Tominey’s remarks highlights the ongoing tension, with the veteran journalist making her views clear on social media.

In a piece published in *The Telegraph*, Camilla Tominey took a rather harsh swipe at Burley, commenting on her resilience and lengthy career.

“Some may say good riddance,” Tominey wrote, “but like her or loathe ‘Hurley Burley,’ you can’t fault the 64-year-old’s staying power.

As resilient as her facelift, part of Burley’s appeal was her imperviousness to criticism. TV’s answer to Liz Truss, she let every gaffe wash over her like lettuce in a salad spinner.” Tominey’s article, which appeared after Burley announced her departure from Sky News, was interpreted by many as an unflattering commentary on Burley’s career and her character.

Burley, who had spent years anchoring Sky News’ breakfast show, reacted to Tominey’s words with a tweet that struck back with pointed rhetoric. Drawing on a famous quote from the late Madeleine Albright, Burley responded to Tominey by writing: “There is a special place in hell for women who don’t support other women.” The remark, which clearly hit back at Tominey’s critical tone, was a clear indication that Burley was not willing to let the comment slide unnoticed.

Kay Burley’s departure from Sky News was made public during a live broadcast, where she emotionally bid farewell to her audience. In her farewell message, Burley reflected on the highs and lows of her career, which included significant moments such as the 2012 London Olympics, royal weddings, and the countless hours spent covering breaking news and general elections. Burley expressed gratitude to the viewers who had supported her throughout her 35-year tenure, acknowledging the dedication of her colleagues in the newsroom.

After announcing her exit, Burley shared her excitement about stepping away from her role to explore other passions, particularly her love for travel. “After over a million minutes of live TV news—more than anyone else in the world—it’s time for me to indulge in some of my other passions,” she said. Burley’s light-hearted tone and heartfelt appreciation for her viewers signaled the end of an era for Sky News. “Thank you for waking up and tuning in every morning. I can’t tell you how much I have appreciated your support over the last three and a half decades. You’re awesome,” Burley said, emphasizing her desire to stay connected with her audience through social media.

In the wake of Burley’s exit, speculation about her successor at Sky News has already begun, with betting site BetIdeas listing potential candidates. Sarah-Jane Mee, a familiar face on Sky News, leads the list at 3/1. Mee is known for presenting *The UK Tonight* and regularly anchoring weekday coverage, making her a strong contender for Burley’s role. Following closely behind is Sophie Ridge, a Sky News veteran who previously hosted *Sophie Ridge on Sunday* until the show ended in 2023. Ridge, who has been with the network since 2001, is considered another possible successor.

Other names in the running include Piers Morgan, who previously hosted *Good Morning Britain*, and Channel 5 presenter Dan Walker, both of whom have made names for themselves in UK broadcasting. However, it remains to be seen whether any of these figures will ultimately take on the mantle left by Burley’s departure.

While the future of Burley’s role at Sky News may still be uncertain, her legacy at the network is firmly established. Her farewell was both a recognition of her achievements and a celebration of the audience that had been with her for so many years. However, her exchange with Camilla Tominey is likely to continue drawing attention as the two women remain at the centre of a public social media spat.

Burley’s response to the remarks about her departure highlights the complexities of leaving a high-profile career behind while also reflecting on the challenges and the adversities faced by women in the public eye. As she transitions into the next chapter of her life, Burley’s comments serve as a reminder of the importance of supporting one another, particularly in a male-dominated industry like broadcasting.
