Strictly Come Dancing judge Shirley Ballas called out one of her followers as they made a “personal” comment about her appearance.
Shirley Ballas was forced to hit back as one of her followers sent her an offensive message. The TV judge, 63, is gearing up for the upcoming series of Strictly Come Dancing which will hit screens next month.
However, the ballroom dancer is already facing scrutiny from fans. On Thursday (August 1), Shirley took a trip down memory lane as she thought about what to wear for the Strictly launch show.
She shared a selection of her different outfits from over the years, before posting a snap of herself wearing a dazzling pink suit.
In a subsequent post on her Instagram Stories, Shirley shared a screenshot of a message she had received from a follower, asking whether she has thought about removing the “warts” on her face.
The message said: “Shirley, you always look stunning with your hair and clothes. Would you consider having the warts removed on your face? I know you have lots of health and beauty treatments but I think it would be the best thing to do.”
The social media user went on to explain that a relative of theirs had two “huge” warts removed and was “happy” with the results. They added: “I don’t mean this to be rude. I completely admire you.”
Hitting back, Shirley responded: “And so it begins. Just for one’s information, I love the little bump on my chin. I was born with it.”
The star clarified: “It’s not a wart,” adding: “Can always tell when @bbcstrictly is about to start, the messages get personal.”
Shirley will return to the judging panel once again with Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse and Anton Du Beke. The four stars are likely hoping that the upcoming series will paint the show in a positive light following the recent scandals.
The BBC show has been engulfed by drama since Giovanni Pernice was suspended by the corporation after his celebrity partner Amanda Abbington accused him of abusive and threatening behaviour. Giovanni has denied all claims.
Earlier today, Craig appeared on BBC Breakfast where he issued a four-word verdict on the current drama. Probed by Naga Munchetty, the 59-year-old said of the situation: “That was a shock.”
He went on to admit he had not been aware of any misconduct allegations until the news hit the media. The BBC are still investigation Giovanni, while Graziano Di Prima was axed from the series after he confessed to kicking Zara McDermott.
