Sandra Bullock broke down in tears as she admitted that she was the reason her loved ones faced unnecessary danger: “I am the one to blame…”

Sandra Bullock has issued a strong warning to her fans regarding a growing online scam involving fake social media accounts that are impersonating her.

The 60-year-old actress is deeply concerned for both her family’s safety and the innocent individuals being exploited by these fraudulent accounts.

In a statement shared with *People*, Bullock expressed her distress over the situation

and made it clear that she does not participate in any form of social media.

“My family’s safety, as well as the innocent people being taken advantage of, is my deep concern, and there will be a time when I will comment more,

but for now our focus is helping law enforcement handle this matter,” Bullock said, urging her followers to remain vigilant about the online impersonations.

The issue came to light when Sandra’s sister, Gesine Bullock-Prado, took to Instagram to share her frustration with the growing number of fake accounts targeting both her and her famous sister. Gesine, a baking instructor and TV personality, explained that she spends a significant amount of time reporting these accounts, which often involve scammers reaching out to individuals under the guise of Sandra. She shared that the fraudulent messages have been sent to her personal business and home, with some believing they have a personal relationship with Sandra, even sending thousands of dollars to the scammers.

Gesine’s Instagram post included screenshots of several fake Facebook accounts that she had reported. “Surprise! They are all still up!” Gesine wrote, expressing her disbelief at the lack of action from the social media platforms. She also pointed out that these accounts are part of larger crime rings, which run fake groups and post false statements under the name of her sister, Sandra.

“I’m a grown a–ed middle-aged woman with a life and I don’t troll around at 54 DMing people,” Gesine humorously stated, adding that her Instagram account is focused on her passion for baking, cooking, animals, and gardening. She further emphasized that these fake accounts were exploiting Sandra’s image for financial gain and that they are not authorized or managed by Sandra herself.

Bullock’s warning comes at a time when similar scams are becoming more widespread. A Meta spokesperson, commenting on the issue, confirmed that impersonating individuals on Facebook and Instagram violates the platform’s policies. They assured that the company is working to remove such content when found and that they are actively collaborating with law enforcement to prosecute those behind these scams. “We continue to invest in technology to improve our detection and enforcement against scams,” the spokesperson added.

In a particularly disturbing example of such scams, Gesine also referenced a recent case reported by *Sept à Huit*, a French television program, where a woman was swindled out of over $800,000 by scammers impersonating none other than actor Brad Pitt. The woman, a 53-year-old interior designer named Anne, was convinced that she was in a romantic relationship with the 61-year-old actor after being duped by fake documents, images, and artificial intelligence. Her tragic story serves as a cautionary tale, showing how scammers can manipulate fans’ emotions and connections to celebrities to extract large sums of money.

A representative for Brad Pitt responded to the incident, calling it “awful” and reminding the public not to respond to unsolicited online messages, especially from celebrities who do not have a social media presence. This case further highlights the growing problem of celebrity impersonation online and the risks fans face when interacting with fake accounts.

Sandra Bullock’s warning serves as an important reminder for her fans to be cautious when navigating social media platforms. Scammers are becoming increasingly sophisticated, using AI and other technology to create convincing fake profiles. Sandra has made it clear that any account pretending to be her is a fraudulent one, and she urges everyone to stay aware and report any suspicious activity. For now, the focus remains on supporting law enforcement in addressing these scams and preventing further harm to unsuspecting individuals.

As the situation continues to unfold, Sandra Bullock remains committed to ensuring her family’s safety and protecting her fans from being taken advantage of. While she will address the matter further when the time is right, for now, her message is clear: “Do not engage with these fake accounts.”
