Ruth Langsford will return to Loose Women tomorrow (Monday, July 22) after two months.
The presenter has been taking a break away from work commitments due to her split from husband Eamonn Holmes.
Sources close to Ruth, 64, say she has been left hurt and upset over her marriage breakdown.
She won’t be discussing the split with Eamonn in depth on the show and friends say she wants it to be a normal show and is keen to get back to work.
A friend of Ruth said, “It’s been tough, but she’s ready to return to Loose Women. She loves the job, and despite the split, life must go on.” For the latest TV & Showbiz news, sign up for our newsletter.
She added: “Just don’t expect any big news or revelations about the divorce, she wants to keep that private.” Ruth is expected to be joined on the show by Coleen Nolan, Brenda Edwards and Janet Street-Porter.
Eamonn has continued to work at GB News in recent weeks and has not discussed his impending divorce on screen. He did an extra show on Sunday with Anne Diamond and posted on social media what a “pleasure” it was, alongside a photo of him and Anne, where it was pointed out he was still wearing his wedding ring.
But aside from the pain of the split, he is also burdened by ongoing health problems due to chronic back issues. Earlier this month Eamonn spoke about standing up and “aiming to walk next”. But when one fan said “You’re doing well Eamonn”, he replied: “If only, but thanks x”.
Another said they hoped he was feeling better and he replied “trying”. Speaking at the TRIC awards last month, Eamonn said “I’m not OK. This is not a good time at all.” When asked about whether he and Ruth will continue to have a relationship of any kind, Eamonn added: “It’s too early to say but I hope we can still be friends.”
Speaking in January Eamonn said the “harsh reality” could be that he may never be able to walk alone again unaided.
Eamonn and Ruth met in 1997 when they were introduced by mutual friends and they then dated for over a decade before Eamonn popped the question and they married in 2010. Before the split they had not been photographed together for two years.
