Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez’s high-profile marriage has officially come to an end. Though the former couple had already settled their divorce on January 6,
the Los Angeles County Superior Court formally dissolved their marriage on February 21, officially declaring them legally single.
A Look Back at Their Marriage
Affleck, 52, and Lopez, 55, rekindled their romance in 2021, nearly two decades after their first engagement ended.
Their second chance at love led to a whirlwind romance, culminating in an intimate wedding in Las Vegas in July 2022.
A month later, they celebrated with a lavish ceremony in Georgia, surrounded by family and friends on August 20, 2022.
However, their fairytale reunion was short-lived. Lopez filed for divorce exactly two years after their Georgia wedding, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for their split. In court documents, she listed April 26, 2024, as their official date of separation.
Divorce Settlement Details
When Lopez filed for divorce, she did so without legal representation and made it clear that she was not seeking spousal support for either party. Additionally, she requested that both parties split attorney’s fees and that her former name, Jennifer Lynn Lopez, be restored.
One of the most significant aspects of their divorce settlement was the division of their shared assets, specifically their Beverly Hills mansion. The couple publicly listed the property for sale in July 2024, and while it remains on the market, legal documents confirm that they will share the profit once the sale is finalized. The exact percentage each will receive, however, remains confidential.
Life After Divorce: Busy Careers and New Projects
Since finalizing their divorce, both Lopez and Affleck have continued to focus on their respective careers. Lopez recently made waves at the Sundance Film Festival in January, where she premiered her latest movie musical, Kiss of the Spider Woman. Interestingly, Affleck played a role in the film’s production through his company, Artists Equity.
Meanwhile, Affleck has also been keeping busy with his own projects. He recently starred in a high-energy Super Bowl commercial for Dunkin’ Donuts, featuring his brother, Casey Affleck, actor Jeremy Strong, and former New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick. The humorous ad showcased the “DunKings,” a playful nod to his love for the popular coffee chain.
On the film front, Affleck is gearing up for the release of The Accountant 2, a sequel to his 2016 action-thriller The Accountant. He will reprise his role as Christian Wolff alongside Jon Bernthal, who returns as his brother Brax. The film is set to premiere at the SXSW Film Festival on March 8 and will hit theaters nationwide on April 25.
What’s Next for Lopez and Affleck?
As both stars officially move forward as single individuals, fans are eager to see what the future holds for them. Lopez, known for her resilience and passion for her craft, has hinted at exciting projects ahead, including her much-anticipated role in Kiss of the Spider Woman.
Affleck, on the other hand, continues to balance his work in both acting and directing. His production company, Artists Equity, remains a key player in Hollywood, and The Accountant 2 is expected to generate buzz upon its release.
While their marriage may have come to an end, it is clear that both Lopez and Affleck are channeling their energy into their careers, showing no signs of slowing down. Their love story may have closed a chapter, but their individual journeys are far from over.
