The Royal Foundation was founded jointly by the Prince of Wales and the Duke of Sussex back in 2009
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have suffered a fresh blow as Princess Kate and Prince William raised an eye-watering sum from US donors, according to accounts published this week by the Charity Commission.
The Royal Foundation, founded jointly by William and Prince Harry back in 2009 but headed by William and Kate alone since 2019, saw its income hit £8million.
This comes after the Prince of Wales, 42, raised a whopping £22.5million in 2023 by The Earthshot Prize.
These new figures form part of the foundation’s first annual report since it ceased to administer The Earthshot Prize, which became a separate charity in 2022.
A staggering £6.5million of William and Kate’s foundation’s income came from donations alone, including £1.7million from US-based supporters.
As a result, the Prince and Princess of Wales have eclipsed the donations made to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s Archewell Foundation, which the Montecito-based couple founded in 2020 after stepping down as working royals.
Harry and Meghan have lived in California for the past four years.
However, donations to their foundation recently plunged from £10.3million to less than £1.6million.
This is according to Archewell’s most recently published accounts.
Harry, 39, and Meghan, 43, left the Royal Foundation in 2019, which coincided with their move to Frogmore Cottage in Windsor.
The Sussexes formerly lived on the grounds of Kensington Palace, which made them neighbours with William and Kate.
Despite leaving the Royal Foundation five years ago, the Duke of Sussex still receives some financial benefits.
This is due to his half share in the income the foundation receives from the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund.
That share amounted to £7,073 last year and was sent by the Foundation to Sentebale, Harry’s charity for African orphans.
Sentebale is a registered charity founded in 2006 by Prince Harry and Prince Seeiso of Lesotho.
The charity helps children and adolescents struggling to come to terms with their HIV and AIDS diagnosis.
The Royal Foundation, established by Prince William and Princess Kate in 2009, continues to thrive as it recently reported an impressive income of £8 million. This marks a significant increase from previous years, with a substantial portion of the donations coming from generous supporters in the United States. The foundation’s success is a testament to the dedication and hard work of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, who have been at the helm since 2019.In contrast, the Archewell Foundation, founded by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle after their departure from the Royal Foundation in 2019, has experienced a decline in donations. The couple, now residing in California, saw their foundation’s income drop to less than £1.6 million in the latest financial report. This decrease highlights the challenges faced by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex as they navigate their post-royal life and charitable endeavors.Despite their differences, both foundations continue to make impactful contributions to various causes. The Royal Foundation focuses on initiatives related to mental health, conservation, and supporting the armed forces, while the Archewell Foundation advocates for issues such as gender equality and racial justice. Each foundation reflects the unique passions and values of its founders, showcasing the diversity of interests within the royal family.Additionally, Prince Harry’s involvement with the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund has allowed him to support causes close to his heart, such as his charity Sentebale. Founded in 2006 in collaboration with Prince Seeiso of Lesotho, Sentebale provides crucial assistance to children and adolescents affected by HIV and AIDS. The funds received from the Royal Foundation have enabled Prince Harry to continue his humanitarian work and make a lasting impact in the lives of those in need.As the royal family’s charitable endeavors evolve and expand, it is clear that their commitment to giving back remains unwavering. The success of the Royal Foundation and the Archewell Foundation alike demonstrates the power of philanthropy and the positive change that can be achieved through collective effort. Together, these foundations exemplify the spirit of service and compassion that defines the modern monarchy, inspiring others to make a difference in their own communities.Follow us for more updates on the latest developments in the world of philanthropy and social impact, and join us in our mission to create a brighter future for all.
