Pete Doherty shocked everyone by revealing that he is facing the risk of having a body part REMOVED, and the main cause is cheese. What happened?

Pete Doherty has revealed that his doctors have warned him about the potential risk of toe amputation due to complications from Type 2 diabetes.

The 45-year-old Libertines frontman, who was diagnosed with the chronic condition last year, has been performing

while seated for the last five dates of his European tour as he battles health issues.

Doctor’s Warning: Stay Off Your Feet or Risk Losing Toes

During a recent concert in Munich, Germany, a video obtained by The Sun captured Pete updating his fans on his health.

He shared that his doctor had given him a stark warning:

“I saw the doctor today, and he said you need to stay off your feet as much as you can, otherwise you’ll lose your toes.”

People with Type 2 diabetes are at increased risk of serious complications, including nerve damage and poor circulation, which can lead to infections and, in severe cases, amputation.

A History of Health Struggles

Pete first opened up about his diabetes diagnosis last spring. At the time, he admitted to struggling with the necessary lifestyle changes to manage his condition, saying:

“I’ve been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. And at the moment, I’m lacking the discipline to tackle cholesterol.”

The singer has made significant lifestyle changes in recent years, including quitting hard drugs. However, his doctor has now urged him to alter his diet to further improve his health.

Dietary Adjustments and Health Concerns

Speaking with The Guardian’s Saturday Magazine, Pete reflected on his past substance use and the irony of now being warned about everyday foods like cheese and sugar.

“I gave up the main poisons, and my health improved. Then you get told alcohol, cheese, and sugar are just as bad, and you were healthier when you were on heroin.”

Pete, who has described himself as “a bit of a glutton,” acknowledged that his eating habits have contributed to his current health struggles. In an interview with the Evening Standard, he recalled how his doctor advised him to cut back on dairy:

“I have seen a liver doctor who says I need to change my diet—too much cheese, too much milk.”

Despite this advice, Pete humorously admitted that his love of cheese remains strong, saying:

“But the cheese is so good. That’s part of the reason I stay here [in France]… It’s a cholesterol and diabetes thing now, but there are tablets—it makes a big difference.”

A New Lifestyle Away from His Wild Past

Pete, who once made headlines for his chaotic lifestyle and drug use, has undergone a transformation in recent years. He now lives in France with his wife, Katia de Vidas, and their daughter, Billie-May, where he enjoys a quieter pace of life.

In a 2021 interview, Pete described his new routine, revealing that he has replaced his former vices with sleep and comfort food:

“For years, I would stay up for five or six days and then sleep for 24 hours. Now I love sleep. At the moment, I’m quite clean. I stopped taking heroin and ketamine.”

Although he has given up hard drugs, Pete admitted to still enjoying alcohol in moderation, saying:

“I like experimenting, making cocktails with champagne, a bit of rum, orange juice… I’m coming across like a bit of an alcoholic, but I’m not—I like a nice glass of water.”

Pete Doherty’s Sobering Reflection on Mortality

Despite these positive changes, Pete has spoken candidly about the toll his past lifestyle has taken on his body. In an interview with Louis Theroux for Louis Theroux Interviews, he described himself as “a very sick man” and acknowledged his fears about his own mortality.

Given his history of substance abuse, he admitted that he doesn’t expect to live a long life:

“Death is lurking.”

While he has been off hard drugs for three years, his struggles with diabetes and cholesterol indicate that his health remains a serious concern.

A New Chapter, But Health Challenges Remain

Pete Doherty’s battle with Type 2 diabetes serves as a reminder of the long-term effects of past lifestyle choices. While he has made significant progress in overcoming addiction, his latest health scare underscores the importance of continued discipline and medical care.

With his European tour ongoing, fans will be keeping a close eye on Pete’s health and hoping that he follows his doctor’s advice to avoid further complications.
