Johnny Depp has been praised by Italian opera singer Andrea Bocelli ahead of the actor’s appearance at the forthcoming Andrea Bocelli 30: The Celebration concerts on July 15, 17 and 19.
The 65-year-old Andrea took to Instagram to laud Depp, 61, praising him as a ‘rockstar.’
He wrote about the Edward Scissorhands star: ‘A disarmingly charming actor who has brought countless iconic characters to life on the big screen.
This eclectic artist’s musical talents are equally intense: a bona fide rockstar loved and applauded everywhere.
‘I fondly recall playing and singing with Johnny Depp when he visited my home in Tuscany.’
‘We’re happy to announce that this unexpected pairing will perform once more — and this time in public, as his fans will be thrilled to hear,’ it went on.
‘We want to thank Johnny for accepting our invitation: it will be a joy to welcome him to the Teatro del Silenzio stage,’ he finished the caption.
The performances will take place in Bocelli’s hometown of Lajatico, Italy as the entertainer celebrates 30 years of music.
Bocelli previously announced that stars like Ed Sheeran, Shania Twain, Jon Batiste, Russell Crowe, Sofia Vergara, David Foster, and will also appear as guests.
Christian Nodal, Sofia Carson, Laura Pausini, Tiziano Ferro, Zucchero, Giorgia, and his children Matteo and Virginia will also join.
Fans who attend will also catch musicians Placido Domingo, Jose Carreras, Lang Lang, Aida Garifullina, Bryn Terfel and Nadine Sierra.
The concert is being filmed and directed by Sam Wrench, who also directed Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour.
Following his summer shows, Bocelli will embark on a fall North American tour kicking off in Monterrey, Mexico, on September 30.
It will wrap on December 21 in Los Angeles.
In an April press release, per People, Andrea reflected: ‘As a child, I learned to dream about my future in the enchanted silence of these hills. Then life made that dream happen.’
He added, ‘Today, 30 years later, I can only imagine celebrating my career and my life, its strength, and its wondrous beauty here at Teatro del Silenzio, surrounded by such wonderful artists and friends.
‘I want to thank everyone who helped my childhood dreams come true with an unforgettable concert.’
Aside from his accomplishments on the silver screen, Depp is a guitarist and singer.
In 2022 he released an album with Jeff Beck, who passed away in January 2023.
Depp recently performed in London in tribute to Jeff on what would have been his 80th birthday.
