Critics of Meghan Markle’s style have often pointed out that Meghan’s clothes don’t seem to fit with her baggy trousers or longer-length items often seen dragging on the floor.

A celebrity stylist has claimed the reason for Meghan’s ill-fit clothing is.

That they could be gifts from smaller brands that are “not possible to alter” or that Meghan could be deemed “too controversial” for bigger fashion houses.

The Duchess of Sussex, 42, was recently seen wearing beige linen floor-length trousers with a halter waistcoat to a business summit in the Hamptons last week. 

Wearing the brand, St Agni, the buttoned vest cost £209 and matching trousers at an eye-watering £255.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, celebrity stylist, Rochelle White claimed if the trousers were potentially a sample from the brand St Agni.

They would not be possible to alter to her 5ft 6inch frame.

Rochelle explained: “I know that wide-leg long trousers are in fashion and trend piece right now. They have been dominating Instagram and runways, so I think she likes the style.”

“But the Duchess could also be working with either a designer, fashion house, or stylist where it might not be possible to have alterations done so that they are more fitting to her leg length. So, as a result, they are longer.”

Fashion expert, Giorgina Ramazzotti, claimed Meghan might be seen as a “controversial” figure for major fashion houses.

She explained: “It can be noted that Meghan rarely wears big designer brands such as the French fashion houses Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Saint Laurent etc. These brands are very careful with their image and getting loans from them for lesser or controversial stars (as Meghan, in some circles, now is) is like getting blood from a stone.”

Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk over the weekend, Caroline Holden, who used to dress Queen Camilla says Meghan makes one big faux pas by allowing the clothes to do the talking.

She said: “Meghan tends to allow her clothes to do the talking and not her figure, there’s not even a touch of sparkle.

“She should dress to her body size and shape and show off her style rather than allowing the outfits to dominate her. Most of the items she wears are extremely ill-fitting and baggy, and she could benefit from the use of a good stylist.”

Following Meghan and Harry’s visit to Nigeria in May, Rochelle told the Daily Mail that the Duchess frequently wears floor-length garments to give her the illusion of height.

She said: “Long dresses and trousers, depending on body type, can help to elongate the body and shape.

“They can make you look taller and depending on the styles can help to define areas of the body you either want to highlight or cover up.”

Giorgina also noted Meghan may have been used to being loaned items for fashion events while working as a TV actress from small brands but as a royal, accepting gifts from designers is forbidden.

She said: “When she joined the royals, she quickly found out that loans and gifts from designers were forbidden, and the star was no doubt given an allowance to dress – something I’m sure she was glad to throw out of the window when she left the royal fold.”
