Madonna has shared an update on her health after being hospitalised with a ‘life-threatening illness’ last year, with the star recovering in time to celebrate the 4th of July
Madonna has opened up about her gratitude for life after a harrowing health experience last year, which saw her hospitalized with a bacterial infection that disrupted her tour schedule.
Last June, the ‘Queen of Pop’ postponed her global tour due to a serious bacterial infection, reportedly caused by her habit of pushing herself too hard.
The music icon’s health scare made headlines, revealing that Madonna was “intubated” and spent at least one night in the hospital with the support of her daughter Lourdes during this tough time.
Intubation involves inserting a tube through the mouth or nose into the trachea to maintain an open airway.
Before being admitted to the ICU and undergoing intubation, Madonna was found “unresponsive” and has since been recuperating at home under medical supervision, reports the Mirror US.
Post-ICU, Madonna’s recovery was confirmed by her manager Guy Oseary, who stated: “Her health is improving, however, she is still under medical care.”
He assured fans that “A full recovery is expected,” and indeed, it came to pass.
Reflecting on her journey to recovery, Madonna shared: “A year ago today, I had just come home from the hospital after surviving a life-threatening illness, I could barely stand in my backyard holding one sparkler.”
Madonna expressed her gratitude in a heartfelt message, saying: “I made a miraculous recovery and had an amazing year. Thank you God. Life is beautiful! Happy 4th of July,” alongside a series of snaps from her Independence Day festivities.
The Queen of Pop was pictured enjoying the 4th of July with her nearest and dearest at The Standard, High Line in the Big Apple. Donning a luscious red satin ensemble, Madonna let her golden tresses flow freely in a tousled style as they draped over her shoulders.
Fans were quick to react to the celebratory pictures, with one admirer commenting: “God save the Queen.”
