“You gotta be careful with those away trips, that’s how babies are made,” Ripa noted on her podcast
Lola Consuelos is flipping the script on mom Kelly Ripa.
The morning show host, 53, revealed on the latest episode of her podcast, Let’s Talk off Camera with Kelly Ripa, that her 22-year-old daughter often gives her a warning before she and husband Mark Consuelos go on vacation.
“What’s so funny is every time I go away now, my daughter is like, ‘Don’t get pregnant,’ which is very funny because my daughter is so provocative,” Ripa told podcast guest Hilarie Burton Morgan.
“I was like, ‘Yeah, don’t worry — don’t you get pregnant, how about that?,’ ” she added.
On the podcast, Ripa and the One Tree Hill star had been chatting about a time the latter took a trip to visit her husband, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, when they were still dating. This prompted Ripa to note, “You gotta be careful with those away trips, that’s how babies are made.”
Ripa and Consuelos, 52, meanwhile, have been spending even more time together after he took over the Live with co-host seat from Ryan Seacrest in April. In an exclusive conversation with PEOPLE, Ripa referred to her husband joining the show as the “best-case scenario.”
“It’s great for me because he’s my favorite person to be around, so spending time with him every day here is kind of the best-case scenario for me. Even the getting ready part — we’ll take a car in together or walk here, which will be so nice,” she said.
“And it’s not like we’ll be pre-planning what to say, everything we say during host chat is off the cuff,” Ripa continued. “But we’ll just have that time together. That’ll be so nice.”
The television personalities married in 1996 and share sons Michael, 26, and Joaquin, 20, and daughter Lola. The two met on the set of All My Children after Consuelos was hired to play Ripa’s love interest on the daytime drama, and their relationship turned romantic. Less than a year into their romance, they eloped in Las Vegas in 1996.
Rip and Consuelos — who are now empty nesters after Joaquin left for college at the University of Michigan in 2021 — joined Priyanka Chopra Jonas and other friends for a pre-Thanksgiving dinner to kick off the holiday season.
They even posted a shot of their show-stopping Christmas tree, which reached all the way to the ceiling, in a joint Instagram post earlier this week. “She’s dressed to impress,” Ripa captioned the festive photo, to which her husband responded, “She looks nice babe!”
