Worries have been mounting for Good Morning Britain presenter Kate Garraway after a lengthy absence from the ITV morning show to take care of her dad after he collapsed
Good Morning Britain fans have shared their concerns for ITV presenter Kate Garraway after her continued absence from the show.
On Friday (August 2), GMB was fronted by Rob Rinder and Charlotte Hawkins – after Ranvir Singh and Ed Balls stepped in for most of the week. Kate – one of the most stalwart regular stars – has been missing since last month due to her father’s ill health.
Now fans have taken to social media to share their worries, with one penning: “Anyone else seriously missing Kate Garraway on #GMB? I hope everything’s okay with her family…” Another viewer said: “She’s coming back soon isn’t she? The presenters today are making me cringe for some reason.”
Kate recently issued a statement on her Instagram, explaining how her dad collapsed and was rushed to hospital – leading to her lengthy break from the show.
She penned: “Hi all – sorry I disappeared from here when my Dad collapsed & rushed to hospital 2 weeks ago while having a holiday with my Mum at my brother’s. It was very scary but am so pleased that he is now stable & even recovering a bit in hospital – we have so much to be grateful for, but are taking it a day at a time.
“Huge thanks to the incredible NHS staff for their endless kindness & the heart they put into the care of all their patients which has meant so much to my mum & all our family.
“Huge thanks too to my incredible friends @itv & @smoothradio particularly @ranvirtv, @charlottehawkins1, @tinahobleyofficial, @myleeneklass for yet again changing their plans to cover for me so I could put my family first.”
Kate went on to explain when she reckons she’ll be back on our screens – which will hopefully help to reassure fans she’s doing okay. The statement added: “Luckily I also had some weeks leave booked so I have been able to support my Mum & Brother & be with my Dad while also giving Darcey & Billy some summer fun on their school holidays which of course they really need.

“Am hoping to be back on @gmb & @smoothradio on Monday so can update more then but for now sending love to you all.”
Despite being gone from GMB, Kate has marked a major career milestone this month – achieving her highest ever audience of 2.9million weekly listeners on her Smooth Radio show. Fans quickly rushed to congratulate her online, with one writing: “Congrats on your RAJAR figures @kategarraway. Outstanding.”
Someone else agreed: “Congrats @kategarraway. Always great listening to you all the time. We adore you.” While a third social media user said: “Huge congratulations Kate!”
