Jennifer Garner enjoyed a rollicking white-water rafting trip in Montana – amid marital woes between her ex-husband Ben Affleck and his wife Jennifer Lopez.

It was recently claimed that Garner, 52, has emerged as an ‘unexpected ally’ to Lopez, 54, during the rough patch in the marriage.

However Garner was able to put a bit of distance between herself and the Hollywood drama recently when she embarked on a summer holiday into the countryside.

She treated her more than 16 million Instagram followers to a picture and video of herself sitting in her raft, grinning with what looked like nervous excitement.

Her life jacket was dripping wet and she wore a helmet that read: ‘Montana Whitewater’ as she drifted down the river.

Over the course of an envy-inducing album, she showed her fans the luxuries she enjoyed on her trip, including a hotel room with breathtaking mountain views. 

Garner also included a snatch of footage of a recent concert by the country group Old Dominion, who have been touring all over America.

‘Thank you, summer,’ she captioned the album, which featured images of a babbling forest brook and an evocatively overcast ocean view.

Garner and Affleck, who married in 2005 and separated in 2015, are the proud parents of three children – Violet, 18, Fin, 15, and Samuel, 12.

Violet hit the headlines this week for a controversial speech to the LA County Board of Supervisors in which she demanded the return of ‘mask mandates’ at medical facilities, citing her own experience of contracting a ‘post-viral condition’ in 2019. 

Meanwhile it has been said that Garner has ‘been really friendly’ with J.Lo as she navigates the recent marital strife.

A source told UsWeekly on Tuesday: ‘She’s been helpful to J.Lo, and they’ve been relating to each other. Jennifer has been a surprising person for J.Lo to talk to.’

The insider also added that Garner has been an ‘unexpected ally’ to the A-lister.

Things have been ramping up for Ben and JLo as it was reported that the pair are selling off art work from inside their $60M mansion in Bel-Air, California. The house was listed for $65M last month.

And now it seems some of the pricy stuff inside the boxy white two story, 12-bedroom building – referred to as the ‘Wallingford estate’ – is getting the heave-ho as well.

Page Six claimed that items like painting and ‘other items’ were sold off to collectors in early June.

The lovebirds have not been seen in public together since June 2 when they had an awkward cheek kiss at his son Samuel’s basketball game in Los Angeles.

This comes days after People reported that Affleck picked up the last of his items from the dwelling when Jennifer was vacationing in Italy last month.

The stars are no longer living together; she is residing in their $60M Bel Air, California mansion while he is staying at his $100K a month rental near Garner.

‘Ben continues to live at the Brentwood rental,’ a source told the site.

Affleck has been carrying on as business as usual amid constant rumors that he is ready to divorce his wife of only two years.

‘He’s been there for about two months now,’ another source added.

‘He seems okay. He’s been at his office every day and seems focused on work. He’s also spending time with his kids.’

Jennifer, on the other hand, seems to be trying to enjoy some fun this summer as she was seen in Paris then in Italy with close pals.

The two appear to still be in contact. They have business ties: Lopez is set to star in two upcoming movies for Affleck and Matt Damon’s production company. Those films are Unstoppable and Kiss Of The Spider Woman.

Amid the issues, a source told DailyMail.com that Affleck’s ex-wife Garner had to step back from an informal mediator role between Affleck and Lopez amid the parting, as she ‘eventually got to a place where she was like, “Sorry, figure this out yourself.”‘

The source added: ‘It was beginning to become too painful for her because it was bringing back so many memories of their divorce.’

It’s been nearly two years since Affleck and Lopez, who first dated decades back, exchanged vows at the Little White Chapel in Las Vegas on July 16, 2022.

‘In the end it was the best possible wedding we could have imagined,’ Lopez said in her newsletter On the JLo on July 17, 2022. ‘One we dreamed of long ago and one made very real (in the eyes of the state, Las Vegas, a pink convertible and one another) at very, very, long last.’

The couple again exchanged vows at Affleck’s estate outside of Savannah, Georgia on August 20, 2022.
