Ruth Langsford’s friends are reportedly urging her to ‘get back on the dating scene’ after her split from husband Eamonn Holmes.
The former This Morning co-stars announced they were going their separate ways back in May after 14 years of marriage.
Insiders say the Loose Women commentator is ‘becoming open to the idea of finding love again’ as pals are encouraging a ‘revenge romance’.
“Ruth’s pals have been rallying around the star and telling her to meet someone new,” the source said.
“Ruth has been completely shocked by it all. She doesn’t feel ready, if truth be told, but she has been left reeling after seeing Eamonn get close to a new woman.”
The insider told Bella magazine that Ruth’s friends have a ‘long list of men’ they want to set her up with’ after their close pal’s ’emotional roller coaster’.
They continued: “There have been moments where she has been down, thinking that she would probably never meet another man at her age.
But her pals have told her that is ridiculous and simply not true.”
They’re thought to be telling her that a ‘revenge romance’ could happen as early as tomorrow ‘if she needs to’ and that they hate the idea of Ruth ‘being down on herself’. After news Eamon is being supported by female friends, Ruth’s pals ‘want her to beat him to it’.
The TV presenter hasn’t ruled out dating apps, according to the source. With dating feeling ‘terrifying’ to Ruth, her friends have reportedly said they’ll ‘hold her hand throughout the process once she’s ready’, per Bella. The Mirror has contacted Ruth’s reps for comment.
Eamonn and Ruth, who share 22-year-old son Jack, admitted they were ‘in the process of divorcing’ in a joint statement back in May. Eamonn recently discussed his relationship while talking about his GB News co-star Isabel Webster. “She and my wife are incredibly alike,” said the 64-year-old broadcaster, following his comment that Webster “never shuts up”. He went on to liken his Loose Women star wife to a “creature of habit”
“They’re both creatures of habit, like routine and do things the same way every day,” he continued and in a sharp jibe, Eamonn remarked that they both “get on my nerves”. During the same chat with HELLO!, Isabel chimed in, revealing that she and Ruth would often team up against him. “She sends me messages while we’re on air.”
Eamonn and Ruth’s romance began in 1997 after being introduced by friends, leading to over a decade of dating before Eamonn proposed. The couple tied the knot in 2010, but they hadn’t been seen together publicly for two years prior to their split.
