Anthony Ammirati failed to make the final in the pole vault at the Paris 2024 Olympics after his manhood unfortunately knocked the bar off in the group stage, leading to a viral sensation
French pole vaulter Anthony Ammirati has finally cracked a smile after his manhood inadvertently knocking him out of the Paris 2024 Olympics, becoming a viral sensation.
The 21-year-old athlete didn’t advance to the finals after his private parts knocked the bar during a crucial vault in the group stage.
This incident sparked a flurry of jokes and memes that both celebrated and poked fun at the ex-under-20 world champ.
Initially too gutted to see the humour, Ammirati has now joined in on the laughs with a tongue-in-cheek TikTok video mocking the odd end to his Olympic debut.
His post read: “POV [point of view]: You make more buzz for your package than for your performances,” as he appeared on camera with a deadpan look, seemingly lost in thought about the slip-up days after the event.
This is the first time Ammirati has publicly poked fun at his Olympic blunder on social media. The day following his unexpected exit, he had shared his disappointment in a more reflective tone, reports the Mirror.
“It’s a big disappointment,” he confessed to the French Athletics Federation. “I’m a bit gutted, because I didn’t miss anything on the third attempt at 5.70 m. What I did miss was a bit of jumping in training to fine-tune the settings. Just a technical session.
“I was 100% physically, but I was missing a bit of pole vault. The conditions were good. It’s the first time I’ve started a competition without any stress. As I was a total outsider, I only had one goal: to interact with the audience. I was almost there.”
Meanwhile, Sweden’s sensation Mondo Duplantis shattered records by soaring to an astonishing 6.25m win.
