Denise Welch has spoken out against speculation suggesting there is friction among the Loose Women panel, firmly dismissing the notion of any backstage drama.

The long-time panellist on the popular ITV daytime show was keen to set the record straight, making it clear that camaraderie remains strong among her colleagues.
The 66-year-old made her comments while appearing on This Morning on Wednesday, March 5, alongside fellow panellist Jane Moore.
The pair were there to discuss their latest venture—a brand-new Loose Women podcast.
While in conversation with hosts Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley, the topic of the panel’s relationships behind the scenes naturally arose.
Cat acknowledged how well the Loose Women panellists seem to maintain their friendships despite the differing opinions they share on-screen.
Denise quickly responded to clarify that any heated debates they have during the show are left at the studio doors. “We never even talk about it off stage, no!” she insisted.
Jane also noted how such discussions often attract media attention, with headlines suggesting that tensions run high behind the scenes. Denise was quick to shut down such rumours, calling them “ridiculous” and adding: “I’m 67 this year. If you think I would voluntarily come into a job with a toxic environment, I wouldn’t! I don’t have to, and I wouldn’t!”
She continued to stress the harmony within the team, recalling past debates with former panellist Carol McGiffin. While their on-air clashes were sometimes intense, Denise explained that they never carried over into real life. “Me and Carol McGiffin used to have some humdingers on there, but we never talked about it when we got off stage. People like to pit women against each other,” she stated firmly.
Despite her strong words, Denise’s comments did not convince everyone. Some audience members remained sceptical, with a few voicing their doubts on social media. One individual questioned whether all opinions were truly welcomed on the show, referencing a recent moment when panellist Charlene White seemingly had to correct Denise live on-air over a contentious remark. Another social media user added: “Toxic femininity also exists. You only need to watch Loose Women to see it in action.”
Still, the discussion about the show’s backstage atmosphere came amid a positive occasion, as Denise and Jane promoted the debut episode of the Loose Women podcast. This new audio series provides a fresh way for fans to engage with their favourite panellists, featuring more in-depth discussions on a range of topics.
The first episode, now available on ITVX, sees Denise Welch joined by Ayda Field Williams, with the two discussing personal and thought-provoking subjects such as addiction, surrogacy, motherhood, and Hollywood crushes. The podcast aims to bring the same candid conversations that viewers love from the TV show but in a more relaxed and extended format.
While some viewers may still speculate about off-screen tensions, Denise’s statements suggest that the panel’s dynamic is far more harmonious than the rumours suggest. Her firm dismissal of any ongoing feuds, along with the enthusiasm for their latest venture, indicates that Loose Women continues to thrive as a platform for open conversation—both on and off the screen.
