Ryan Reynolds, the Hollywood actor and co-owner of Wrexham AFC,

has given fans a behind-the-scenes glimpse into his playful banter with NFL legend Tom Brady and soccer icon David Beckham.
The exchange, which occurred during a match between Wrexham and Birmingham City, highlights Reynolds’ sense of humor and his competitive spirit in sports.
Speaking on the “Men In Blazers” podcast, Reynolds, 49, shared details about his lighthearted WhatsApp messages with Brady,
who owns a minority stake in Wrexham’s League One rivals Birmingham City.
The match, held in September, ended with Wrexham defeating Birmingham City 3-1. Reynolds was unable to attend the game in person but kept himself entertained by exchanging jabs with Brady and Beckham, who were both present at the match.
“I wasn’t able to be at the Birmingham match,” Reynolds explained. “But Tom was sitting with Beckham, and I was sending them texts—mostly age-related insults and comments about their bone structure. It wasn’t my best material, and I hate that they’re both genuinely kind people in real life.”
The Competitive Dynamic
Reynolds co-owns Wrexham with “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” actor Rob McElhenney. While both are committed to the club’s success, Reynolds admitted that McElhenney’s competitive nature often takes the rivalry to another level.
“Would I love to beat Tom Brady at sports? Absolutely,” Reynolds said. “But Rob? He’s even more intense about it than I am. He’s got this fiery determination, but it balances out perfectly with my Canadian and American roots.”
Brady’s involvement in soccer through Birmingham City has added an intriguing dynamic to the league, especially as Wrexham continues to make waves under Reynolds and McElhenney’s ownership.
Playful Crossfire and Friendly Rivalry
The match wasn’t just about competition; it also showcased the camaraderie among the stars. Reynolds’ humor often blurs the line between teasing and genuine admiration, as evidenced by his comments about Beckham and Brady. The actor’s playful attitude reflects the fun and lightheartedness he brings to Wrexham’s management, a key factor in the club’s growing popularity.
Reynolds’ ability to mix humor with heartfelt commitment to Wrexham has made him a beloved figure in the soccer world. His exchanges with Brady and Beckham add to the narrative of celebrity owners bringing attention to English football’s lower leagues.
Off-the-Field Drama for Reynolds
Beyond soccer, Reynolds and his wife, actress Blake Lively, have been embroiled in a separate controversy involving actor and director Justin Baldoni. The legal dispute centers on allegations of sexual harassment by Lively during the filming of “It Ends With Us,” a project Baldoni directed and co-starred in.
Lively’s legal team has accused Baldoni of inappropriate behavior, claiming that he engaged in unscripted actions during an intimate scene and failed to provide an intimacy coordinator. In response, Baldoni has denied the allegations and released raw footage from the set, which he claims proves his innocence.
The legal battle has escalated, with Reynolds and Lively requesting a protective order to prevent Baldoni’s legal team from releasing further material to the media. Baldoni, in turn, has filed a defamation lawsuit, accusing Lively and Reynolds of orchestrating a smear campaign against him.
A Balancing Act of Humor and Seriousness
Despite the legal drama, Reynolds continues to focus on his various ventures, including his role as Wrexham’s co-owner. His playful interactions with Beckham and Brady showcase his ability to maintain a lighthearted approach even amid serious challenges.
As Wrexham’s journey under celebrity ownership continues, Reynolds’ humor and passion for the game remain central to the club’s unique story. Whether it’s joking with sports legends or tackling legal hurdles, Reynolds proves that his presence extends far beyond Hollywood.
