Ryan Reynolds, the Hollywood actor and co-owner of Wrexham AFC, 

has given fans a behind-the-scenes glimpse into his playful banter with NFL legend Tom Brady and soccer icon David Beckham. 

The exchange, which occurred during a match between Wrexham and Birmingham City, highlights Reynolds’ sense of humor and his competitive spirit in sports.

Speaking on the “Men In Blazers” podcast, Reynolds, 49, shared details about his lighthearted WhatsApp messages with Brady, 

who owns a minority stake in Wrexham’s League One rivals Birmingham City. 

The match, held in September, ended with Wrexham defeating Birmingham City 3-1. Reynolds was unable to attend the game in person but kept himself entertained by exchanging jabs with Brady and Beckham, who were both present at the match.

“I wasn’t able to be at the Birmingham match,” Reynolds explained. “But Tom was sitting with Beckham, and I was sending them texts—mostly age-related insults and comments about their bone structure. It wasn’t my best material, and I hate that they’re both genuinely kind people in real life.”

The Competitive Dynamic

Reynolds co-owns Wrexham with “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” actor Rob McElhenney. While both are committed to the club’s success, Reynolds admitted that McElhenney’s competitive nature often takes the rivalry to another level.

“Would I love to beat Tom Brady at sports? Absolutely,” Reynolds said. “But Rob? He’s even more intense about it than I am. He’s got this fiery determination, but it balances out perfectly with my Canadian and American roots.”
