Fans Unite in Agreement About Caitlin Clark, Kelsey Mitchell After Fever-Mercury.
Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell combine for 57 points tonight as the Fever sweep the regular season series vs. the Mercury.
On Friday, the Indiana Fever returned to WNBA action with a strong 98-89 win over the Phoenix Mercury.
The Fever have now officially swept the season series with a 3-0 record against the Mercury.
Indiana’s All-Star backcourt duo of Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell led the way to the win. Clark recorded a double-double with 29 points on 8-of-16 shooting, ten assists and four threes. Mitchell added 28 points on 11-of-22 shooting, five rebounds and six three-pointers of her own.
In the contest, Clark and Mitchell became just the ninth duo in WNBA history to each record 25 or more points and four or more three-pointers in the same game, adding a bit of history to their incredible performances.
Both players reminded everyone why they made the WNBA All-Star team, and both are huge factors in a potential playoff run for the Fever.
Following the game, WNBA fans agreed that the duo of Clark and Mitchell is arguably one of the best in the league. They took to social media to leave their thoughts.
“Kelsey Mitchell and Catlin Clark backcourt is superb. The Fever should give Mitchell whatever she wants. When the going got tough, she got those 2 massive 3’s to fall. She’s a certified bucket-getter, letting her leave would be dumb”
“Kesley Mitchell and caitlin Clark might be best backcourt in the league”
“Caitlin Clark/Kelsey Mitchell backcourt could be something special. Great chemistry, games align with each perfectly.”
“Clark and Mitchell are the Splash Sisters ngl”
“Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell,” wrote a fan, who ended the tweet with two fire emojis.
“Having guards like Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell in one team is madness, bro”
Clark and Mitchell have been the two leading scorers for Indiana in the 2024 season. Prior to the Fever vs. Mercury game, Clark was averaging 17.1 points per game, and Mitchell averaged 16.9. Both numbers will go up following their performances on Friday.
The Fever are now sitting at 12-15 on the season, good for third place in the Eastern Conference and the seventh seed in the WNBA Playoffs. Eight of the 12 WNBA teams make the postseason, and Indiana holds a comfortable three-game lead over the ninth-placed Atlanta Dream, who own an 8-17 record.
