Cat Deeley not only ruthlessly tells co-host Ben Shephard to ‘shut up’ but also reduces Rishi Sunak to tears with a four-word rebuttal that angers viewers, prompting demands for her replacement.

Rishi Sunak has been told “people have lost faith” in the Tories – less than 24 hours before polls open in the General Election.

During a grilling on ITV’s This Morning, the Tory leader attempted to boast about his record in government, saying: “With me you’ve got someone who has the courage of their convictions. You know where I stand. You always know where I am.”

But presenter Cat Deeley told him: “The problem is Prime Minister people have lost faith in that, I think is what’s happened, and that’s reflected in the polls and that’s reflected in why we’re looking at you not getting in again”.

Mr Sunak admitted the Conservatives “haven’t got everything right” as his party braces for a historic defeat at the General Election on Thursday.

Mega-polls have forecast Keir Starmer is on course for a huge majority tomorrow – even surpassing ex-Labour PM Tony Blair’s 1997 election landslide.

During his appearance on ITV’s This Morning, Mr Sunak was also told he had failed to deliver on a key pledge to voters. On the steps of No10 when he became PM in 2022, the Tory leader promised: “This government will have integrity, professionalism and accountability at every level. Trust is earned.”

But Presenter Ben Shephard told Mr Sunak: “Do you feel like you’ve delivered that Rishi? Because it has been a particularly torrid period of your premiership. More recently during the campaign there’s been a number of occasions when I would say professionalism, integrity, and accountability hasn’t been delivered”.

As Mr Sunak insisted he was “proud” of the Tories’ General Election campaign, he was then brutally reminded of the election date betting scandal involving Tory candidates and officials and his decision to skip the D-Day commemorations early.

Earlier in the campaign the PM was forced into a grovelling apology after he left the 80th anniversary D-Day landings in Normandy after a barrage of criticism. At the time, he said: “On reflection, it was a mistake not to stay in France longer – and I apologise.”

The PM also attempted to downplay his close ally and Cabinet Minister’s Mel Stride comments on Wednesday morning that the polls show the Tories will not win the election and the priority should be ensuring that Labour do not get a “supermajority”.

Speaking to This Morning, Mr Sunak said: “He wasn’t quite saying that. Actually, you know, what Mel was doing was warning of what a very large Labour majority, unchecked, would mean for people.”

He added: “I’m fighting hard for every vote. Here’s what I’d say, actually, here’s what I’d say. We just saw some analysis which showed that just 130,000 people can make the difference in this election. So, everyone watching who thinks, ‘oh, this is all a foregone conclusion’, it’s not.”
