BBC’s The One Show criticized by viewers for the attitude of the ‘replacement’ for Jemaine Jenas after his firing: ‘The show should be more professional, at least address the ‘disappearance’ of the former host and introduce the new one, why the silence?’

The One Show returned to BBC One tonight with Alex Jones at the helm alongside a stand-in.

Alex Jones did not mention the departure of her colleague Jermaine Jenas during Thursday’s edition of The One Show.

It comes amid reports the former footballer was accused of “inappropriate behaviour” and has since been dropped from the lineup.

Alex returned to the BBC show alongside her co-presenter as she commented: “Hello, and welcome to Thursday’s The One Show on BBC One and iPlayer with Clara Amfo.”

The pair went on to congratulate students who received their GCSE results today, however, Jermaine’s exit was not addressed.

Viewers took to X and reacted, as one person commented: “They should at least mention there’s someone missing and won’t be seen again #TheOneShow.”

Another agreed: “#TheOneShow so they never addressed anything.”

A third wrote: “Not the one show pretending Jermaine Jenas doesn’t even exist #TheOneShow.”

“The elephant in the room won’t be addressed on cam. It’s like he never even presented on the show #theoneshow,” a fourth penned.

Another said: “They haven’t mentioned Jermaine Jenas but we’ve got this so swings and roundabouts #TheOneShow.”

A sixth penned: “Not addressing the elephant in the room then? #theoneshow.”

Jermaine has since released a statement after being sacked by the BBC.

The former England international recently saw his contract terminated by the broadcaster earlier this week, having previously been touted as a potential host for Match of the Day in the future.

Unsolicited communications with a female member of staff of The One Show over text sparked the investigation, but Jenas has now hit back at the allegations.

His spokesperson said: “Right now I can’t talk about it. I can tell you I’m not happy – there are two sides to every story – and I’m going to be speaking with my lawyers on the issue.”

The latest episode of The One Show on BBC One featured Alex Jones leading the show with a guest co-host. Alex Jones smoothly transitioned into the evening’s segment without addressing the absence of Jermaine Jenas, who has reportedly been removed from the show due to allegations of inappropriate behavior. Instead, Alex introduced Clara Amfo as her co-presenter for the night, focusing on highlighting the achievements of students who received their GCSE results. Despite Jermaine’s sudden departure, the show continued without acknowledging his absence, prompting a mixed response from viewers.Fans of The One Show took to social media to express their disappointment with the lack of acknowledgment regarding Jermaine Jenas. Many viewers felt that his departure should have been addressed on air, with some criticizing the show for ignoring the situation entirely. While the rumors and reports surrounding Jermaine’s exit continue to circulate, the show chose to remain silent on the matter, leaving viewers questioning the decision. In response to the backlash, Jermaine Jenas released a statement addressing the situation and expressing his discontent with how things have unfolded. Despite the allegations against him, Jenas maintained that there are always two sides to every story and hinted at taking legal action to address the issue. As fans of The One Show await further developments, it remains to be seen how the show will handle Jermaine’s sudden departure in the coming episodes.Follow us for more updates on this story and other important news to stay informed and engaged with the latest developments in the world of entertainment.
