BBC News presenter Rich Preston took to social media to bid viewers farewell ahead of his “new adventure.”
BBC’s Rich Preston has revealed he will take time away from the screens after welcoming a new family member.
The broadcaster shared the exciting news on X alongside a photo of himself carrying a car seat while leaving a hospital.
In the snap, Rich appeared solemn as he glanced down at the baby, who was strapped into the seat and wearing an adorable babygrow, mittens and hat.
Taking to the caption, he announced: “Delighted to share that I’ve got a new job: Dad.
“I’ll be off your screens for a bit as I embark on this next adventure. I can already tell it’s going to be a lot of fun. See you in a few months!”
Rich was inundated with praise as fans and colleagues commented with elation, GB News’ Cameron Walker penned: “Congratulations!”

Rich is a senior foreign news presenter at the BBC where has worked for more than 16 years.
This positive news comes just weeks after he performed CPR on his neighbour who sadly died.
Taking to social media, Rich penned: “I spent 45 minutes doing CPR on a neighbour this morning. Sadly, they didn’t make it.”
The presenter then encouraged his followers to train in CPR, saying he was alerted about his neighbour’s condition via the London Ambulance Service.
“I arrived just as a response paramedic did and the two of us were able to work together to do our best for the person,” Rich added.
