Andy Cohen is addressing the rumors that he’s trying to bring Lisa Vanderpump back to *The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills*, and he’s setting the record straight.
On the January 21st episode of his SiriusXM show, *Andy Cohen Live*, the host reacted to the speculation,
which had been circulating for some time. Cohen, known for his candor
and humor, did not mince words in clearing up the confusion surrounding the matter.
“I’ve heard it repeated all over that I’m trying to get Lisa Vanderpump back on *The Housewives of Beverly Hills*,” Cohen said,
before adding, “Let me restate my abject love for Lisa Vanderpump, but I don’t know where this rumor came from. I don’t see her coming back to that show.”
This bold statement comes after months of swirling rumors about Vanderpump’s potential return to the reality show. Vanderpump, 64, was one of the original cast members of *RHOBH* and enjoyed a beloved and often dramatic presence on the show. However, she shocked fans by exiting in 2019 after a fallout with several castmates, notably Kyle Richards. Vanderpump’s departure marked the end of a notable era for the show, leaving a noticeable gap among the *Beverly Hills* housewives.
Despite the strong bond between Vanderpump and Cohen, the *Watch What Happens Live* host doesn’t believe that her return to *RHOBH* is in the cards anytime soon. Cohen’s co-host on *Andy Cohen Live*, John Hill, pointed out that Vanderpump has “her own thing going on,” referring to her successful show *Vanderpump Rules*, which continues to thrive with a loyal fanbase. Hill added that Vanderpump doesn’t necessarily need the *Beverly Hills* spotlight anymore.
Cohen agreed with Hill, acknowledging that Vanderpump’s life is now full with her business ventures and reality TV successes, and further remarked that the current dynamics between Vanderpump and her former *RHOBH* castmates might make her return unlikely. Cohen pointed out that although Vanderpump still shares friendly ties with Dorit Kemsley, Kyle Richards, and Garcelle Beauvais, they don’t appear to have much desire to interact with each other regularly.
The falling out between Vanderpump and Richards at the start of season 9 was one of the most dramatic moments in *RHOBH* history, and it ultimately led to Vanderpump’s exit from the show. Although their relationship has been strained, Cohen admitted that he misses the dynamic between the two, especially when they run into each other publicly.
“It seems like once a year, Kyle runs into Vanderpump somewhere, and they’ll kind of send each other their bill or their drink,” Cohen shared, acknowledging the lingering tension and occasional lighthearted shade between the two. “I appreciate that, though—it’s fun to watch.”
Cohen’s reflections on Vanderpump’s departure and the show’s evolution hint at his deep respect for her, but he also recognizes the way *RHOBH* has continued to thrive without her. In fact, after Vanderpump left the show, Cohen had expressed hope that she might one day return. During a 2019 reunion, Cohen said, “We will miss Lisa Vanderpump. I love Lisa Vanderpump, but the great thing about the Housewives is it’s an ensemble show. We have a group of all-stars in Beverly Hills.”
While Cohen’s words suggest he’s open to the possibility of Vanderpump’s return, he’s also acknowledged that the *Real Housewives* franchise has continued to evolve, with stars like Bethenny Frankel leaving *RHONY* and NeNe Leakes exiting *RHOA*. “New York survived when Bethenny left, Atlanta survived when NeNe left for a bit,” Cohen said at the time. “People come and go, and I hope that Lisa comes back at some point.”
However, at BravoCon 2023, when asked if Vanderpump would consider a return to *RHOBH*, she quickly shot down the question. “You know what? I think I’ve got enough on my plate so that’s a hard no,” Vanderpump replied, making it clear that she has no interest in revisiting the show that made her a household name.
While Vanderpump’s future with *The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills* remains uncertain, it’s evident that her impact on the franchise is still felt. Whether or not she returns to the show, Vanderpump continues to shine in her own ventures, and Cohen’s ongoing love and admiration for her seem to remain unchanged. Fans can continue to enjoy her on *Vanderpump Rules* while hoping that one day, we may see her back in the *RHOBH* fold—just not anytime soon, according to Andy Cohen.
