Alec Baldwin faced severe criticism from the public for appearing on the red carpet with his wife Hilaria as if nothing had happened, following his involvement in a horrifying shooting incident on the set of Rust.

Alec Baldwin was seen making his first red carpet appearance while joined by wife, Hilaria, in East Hampton on Saturday – one week after his Rust shooting case was dismissed.

The 30 Rock star, 66, who intends to sue a prosecutor and sheriff for withholding evidence in his case, attended the HamptonsFilm SummerDocs screening of War Game with a smile on his face.

His appearance at the event comes shortly after the actor broke down in tears upon hearing the judge’s decision, and was seen emotionally embracing his wife inside a Sante Fe courtroom.

Baldwin was stylishly casual in a pair of dark gray trousers as well as a light blue shirt and black blazer on top.

The actor completed his ensemble for the weekend outing by slipping into a pair of black, leather loafers.

Hilaria also dressed for the occasion wearing a figure-hugging, pink dress that clung to her frame and was held up with thick straps that wrapped around her shoulders.

She slipped into a pair of closed-toed, white pumps and allowed her brunette locks to effortlessly flow down past her shoulders in elegant waves.

The mother-of-seven opted for minimal accessories, and added a pair of small, rhinestone earrings as well as a few flashy rings on each of her hands.

Alec and Hilaria – who tied the knot in 2012 – struck a variety of poses together upon arriving to the special screening at the Regal UA East Hampton theater.

He was also seen giving a friendly wave to fans while outside as he arrived to the venue as the sun was setting.

Baldwin’s outing comes just one week after his Rust shooting case was dismissed – causing an emotional reaction from the star and his wife.

The widower of the late cinematographer, Matthew Hutchins, released a statement after the judge’s decision and said that he ‘respects the court’s decision.’

However, he also added that, ‘We look forward to presenting all the evidence to a jury and holding Mr Baldwin accountable for his actions in the senseless death of Halyna.’

He is also planning on suing a New Mexico state prosecutor and sheriff after it emerged they withheld evidence from his defense team during their failed bid to prosecute him over the fatal shooting of Halyna Hutchins on the set for Rust.

Charges of involuntary manslaughter against Baldwin were dismissed after a New Mexico judge agreed that prosecutor Kari Morrissey and Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Mendoza withheld evidence about the source of the live round that killed Halyna Hutchins in 2021.

The evidence came from a man who dropped it off at the sheriff’s office in March, more than two years after the shooting, who said it may be relevant.

But investigators believed it was unrelated and unimportant, and did not disclose it to Baldwin’s defense team.

Baldwin’s lawyers sent letters to Morrissey and Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Mendoza dated Monday asking them to preserve documents for future litigation, according to copies of the letters seen by Reuters.

The Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office confirmed it received the letter from Baldwin’s legal team but declined further comment on Wednesday. Morrissey did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Hutchins died when Baldwin pointed a gun at her as they set up a camera shot on a movie set near Santa Fe.

The gun fired a live round inadvertently loaded by the movie’s chief weapons handler Hannah Gutierrez. Gutierrez was convicted of involuntary manslaughter earlier this year.

Gutierrez, serving an 18-month prison sentence, on Tuesday filed a motion for dismissal of charges in response to the prosecutors’ failures to disclose evidence.

They claimed prosecutors failed to disclose evidence on the live rounds, testing of Baldwin’s gun by firearms expert Lucien Haag and an interview with the movie’s props supplier Seth Kenney.

Erlinda Johnson resigned as Morrissey’s assistant prosecuting the case on Friday, shortly before judge Mary Marlowe Sommer dismissed charges against Baldwin.

Johnson told Reuters that in the months since she was appointed in April she provided the defense with unredacted documents after they got in touch with her seeking information when Morrissey did not provide documents they requested.

‘As prosecutors we have obligations to disclose all the evidence,’ she said, adding that she believed it was right to dismiss the case. ‘We not only owe a duty to the people, but to the defendants accused of crimes as well.’

Johnson said she did not give Baldwin’s legal team details of the live rounds and only learned of that evidence when the defense did during testimony in court.

After the dismissal of the case, Alec broke his silence and penned on Instagram, ‘There are too many people who have supported me to thank just now.’

‘To all of you, you will never know how much I appreciate your kindness toward my family,’ he added.
