Princess Anne has reportedly taken charge of the next stage of Princess Charlotte’s training
As the nine-year-old’ prepares for the sometimes tricky task of being a front-line member of the royal family.
A palace insider told Aussie weekly Woman’s Day that the Princess Royal is also warning Charlotte against some of the mistakes made by royals in the recent past.
“Anne’s also inadvertently giving her some juicy gossip on the family by going through some of the worst faux pas a royal can make,” the source said.
“from her uncle partying in Nazi uniforms to Beatrice’s dreadful fascinator at her parents’ wedding.”
But while Charlotte’s “princess training” might seem hard work, the pair seem to be thoroughly enjoying themselves.
As Charlotte seems to have a particularly close bond with the acknowledged “hardest-working royal.
“They’re talking ALL the time about everything and anything, “ the royal source explained: “women’s football, sailing, horses, ballet, fashion, manners…
Essentially she’s foolproofing Charlotte into becoming the perfect princess and standby queen.”
Anne is also doing her best to foster a healthy relationship between Charlotte and brother George – trying to ensure that they won’t end up rivals like William and Harry, and instead grow up with the healthy mutual respect that has always marked the Princess Royal’s relationship with His Majesty the King.
Charlotte’s parents, the Prince and Princess of Wales, are reportedly “thrilled” that Charlotte’s 73-year-old great aunt has taken her under her wing.
They added: “They couldn’t imagine a better role model than Anne, who is renowned for her work ethic and impregnable support for the King. She doesn’t put a foot wrong whilst still having her opinions not only heard but respected.
“Anne was invaluable to Kate during those early uncertain years, especially as a commoner. She wants Charlotte to have the same candid tough love Anne gave her.”
While Anne had sparked health concerns after her recent five-night hospital stay, she seemed in fine form she appeared at the Olympics to congratulate Adam Peaty.
Her presence at the medal ceremony in Paris is the latest in the Princess’s phased return to public duties after being injured at her Gatcombe estate in Gloucestershire.
Anne’s medical team had said at the time that her concussion and head injuries were consistent with an impact from a horse’s head or legs but her concussion meant precise details of how the incident came about are not clear.
