“When Isabella wanted to tell everyone about what was going on, there was this talk in the media about me—where was I? Why was I not at work?” Strahan recalled.

Strahan made it clear that he had remained silent about the situation out of respect for Isabella’s privacy. “I didn’t say anything because it was not my story to tell. It was hers. I’m her parent, and my job is to protect her.”

After months of focusing on Isabella’s treatment and recovery, Strahan eventually returned to GMA, finding comfort in his familiar routine. “Going back to work was also good—it normalized things for me,” he explained. “I thought, ‘Okay, we’re going to get back on track with life.’ To go to work, come home, take her to radiation—that cycle, that routine.”

Strahan also credited his colleagues at GMA and Fox NFL Sunday for their unwavering support. Their encouragement made it easier for him to transition back into his role while still being there for his daughter.

“I love it because I never expected to be here,” he admitted. “After years of playing football, then transitioning into football commentary, and now daytime television, it’s been an unexpected but amazing journey.”

He added that the variety of topics covered on GMA keeps him constantly engaged. “I have to learn so much about so many different things. I love the whole team. Everything I have done in my life has been as part of a team, and I absolutely love that.”
