Amid rumors that Meghan Markle might be working on a potential post-divorce book, 

insiders have weighed in on why the Duke and Duchess of Sussex may never part ways. 

According to a source close to the couple, Harry and Meghan’s value is intrinsically tied to their partnership, making it unlikely 

that a split could ever occur—at least not in the public eye. 

Recent reports indicated that Markle’s team had quietly explored the idea of a book about life after a potential divorce from Prince Harry. 

This idea was first brought to light in a Vanity Fair cover story, which revealed that Meghan’s team allegedly had informal discussions with a publishing house to gauge interest in such a book. 

The source claimed it would have centered on Meghan’s life after a breakup with Harry, not her first marriage to Trevor Engelson, whom she divorced in 2014. However, insiders quickly dismissed the idea as mere speculation.

While the divorce book idea seemed to capture attention, a source close to the couple told Page Six that the notion of a split was far-fetched. “Meghan and Harry know that they are tied together, their value is in being a couple,” the insider shared. “Even if they wanted to split, they couldn’t. And honestly, they are obsessed with each other. They are just two narcissists.” This blunt assessment reflects the notion that their public image and financial success are deeply interwoven with their relationship, making separation impractical.

Further fueling this argument, another source familiar with the couple’s lucrative $20 million book deal with Penguin Random House, signed in 2021, stated they had never heard any mention of a divorce-related manuscript. Initially, the deal was believed to involve books about leadership and wellness, but this focus seems to have quietly changed after Harry’s memoir, *Spare*, became a global phenomenon.

Released in January 2023, *Spare* has sold over six million copies worldwide, securing its place as the fastest-selling nonfiction book in history. Following the memoir’s success, speculation about the couple’s future projects has intensified, especially regarding their joint endeavors. One publishing insider remarked, “They are worth more together. It doesn’t benefit them to be apart—they have all their deals together.” The insider also pointed to their Netflix deal, signed in 2020, which appears to operate in a similar vein. Netflix reportedly greenlit several of the Sussexes’ projects, including *Harry & Meghan*, a docu-series, and Meghan’s upcoming lifestyle show, *With Love, Meghan*, which will debut in March 2025.

Despite all the buzz around potential solo projects, Meghan’s value is still perceived as closely tied to her relationship with Harry. Their joint business ventures, from Netflix to book deals, reflect this reality. As one source put it, “It’s not about them individually anymore. Their brand is the Sussexes, and that brand is much more powerful when they are together.” 

In the case of the alleged divorce book, a Vanity Fair source clarified that it was never meant to be about Meghan’s first marriage but rather would have been a speculative exploration of what life after Harry might look like. However, the publisher reportedly did not make an offer for such a book, and no manuscript was produced, as no divorce occurred. This explanation suggests that the entire idea of the book was more about curiosity than any genuine plan to part ways.

Interestingly, Page Six also reported that Meghan avoids discussing her first husband, Trevor Engelson, and rarely addresses the subject of their divorce. This has further fueled the speculation that Meghan would not want to delve into the idea of another breakup so soon after the public scrutiny she and Harry have faced over the years. 

As for Harry, he has only released his memoir, *Spare*, which has been a massive commercial success. Reports indicate that there was talk of splitting the book into two parts before he ultimately decided to keep it as one. His focus now is on new endeavors, such as his work with the Archewell Foundation, but the couple’s united front remains central to their public image.

Despite the rumors surrounding their marriage, one thing remains clear: Harry and Meghan’s public and financial success is undeniably tied to their status as a couple.
