This Morning host Alison Hammond announces her ENGAGEMENT to her 22-year-younger boyfriend, whom she just started dating last year, leaving co-host Dermot O’Leary in disbelief

Alison Hammond, 49, is in a relationship with masseur David Putman, who is 22 years her junior, and made the quip as she prepares to return to the programme next week

This Morning’s Alison Hammond has made a revelation about her love life as rumours about her possible engagement continue.

The 49-year-old presenter is in a relationship with masseur David Putman, who is 22 years her junior. Gossip about the pair exploded last year when she appeared on the show in May with a diamond ring on her finger.

Putting a lid on the claims live on air, she declared: “Let me swap it over, because we don’t want those rumours going out there, do you know what I mean?

“Not just yet,” she added. “Maybe one day, who knows.”

Now, as she prepares to make her return to the programme next week, she said that her friendship with co-host Dermot O’Leary is her longest relationship to date, OK reports.

On hearing that the pair have now been presenting the show for three years together, she quipped: “It’s the longest relationship I’ve ever been in!”

In the same interview with Woman Magazine, Dermot added: “It does feel like those three years have gone so quickly, but at the same time, like we’ve been together forever!”

In an Instagram post earlier this year Alison went public with her romance and despite rumours of a breakup, the pair seem to be as solid as ever. On the Parenting Hell podcast with Rob Beckett, she also addressed what it was like to date while being a parent to 19-year-old son Aiden. She said : “I think it’s more difficult.”

She revealed her son’s role in vetting her new beau, saying: “I think he’s more verbal now that he’s older, he will wanna to know who this person is and he’ll want to meet them… it’s a lot harder, yeah.”

“Because he’ll wanna know that this guy is treating me well. The person that I’m seeing at the moment, he’s, like, on his Instagram. He’s like, ‘Yeah, I like him. I like him. He’s not too in your face.’ Do you know what I mean? Aiden’s on it.”

Alison had been linked to landscape gardener Ben Hawkins before her current romance but the two went their separate ways after two years together. Alison was also previously engaged to Aiden’s father Noureddine Boufaied, but contrary to reports that they were married, they never made it down the aisle.

During a heartfelt conversation with Paloma Faith on This Morning Alison made a rare confession about her past love life. Following Paloma’s open conversation about her own marital breakdown, Alison confided: “You’re not a failure, listen, I felt that failure when I split up with my son’s dad.”

“His dad’s now moved on, he’s married, he’s got three other children, they’re part of our family as well. You don’t know how it’s going to work out, it’s part of your story.”
