Jermaine Jenas lashes out at ‘sexual predator’ allegations that got him fired by the BBC: ‘Why am I the only one facing consequences when she was a willing participant too?’

The former England footballer was sacked by the BBC following allegations of inappropriate behaviour, including complaints over flirty text messages sent by Jermaine to a female colleague

Jermaine Jenas has furiously responded to claims he is a “sex pest” following his shock sacking by BBC bosses.

The 41-year-old football pundit and former England player was fired on Monday after he was accused of sending inappropriate messages to female colleagues while working at the corporation.

The news was made public on Thursday, as Jermaine was presenting his talkSport radio show, and the footballer initially claimed there were “two sides” to the story when quizzed by reporters.

Since the news of his sacking broke, Jermaine has spoken to The Sun about the behaviour that led to his dismissal, and apologised profusely to his wife Ellie, as well as the women he was messaging.

He explained that he got in contact with one of the women involved after she “made it very clear” that she was attracted to him, but denied he was a “sex pest” and insisted “false information” was being spread.

“In that particular instance, there was an adult conversation that took place in a bar in London where that person made it very clear that they had an attraction to me. Yes there was alcohol involved but I take full responsibility,” he said. “I feel people don’t know the truth and are forming opinions about me that aren’t accurate. I wasn’t going through some kind of BBC vault trying to get women’s numbers.”

Jermaine said he wanted to “defend my space” but didn’t want to go “down the ‘who pursued who’ road”, and was furious he was being painted in a bad light. “I’m obviously going to say I’m not a sex pest. These were consenting adults I was texting,” he fired. The father-of-four denied sending any images or videos to his female colleagues, but confessed he had “cheated” on his wife of 13 years by sending the flirty texts.

However, he did admit he had been “frantically” sexting a female colleague over a 24-hour period, but said he did “nothing illegal”. Jermaine also confessed his wife Ellie is “raging”, and is refusing to speak to him after kicking him out of their bedroom. Confessing he has “made a lot of mistakes”, the former Match of The Day pundit is “asking myself a lot of questions at the moment”, and said he was suffering from insomnia and anxiety since he was found out.

In a grovelling apology, Jermaine said he has “let myself down, my family, friends and colleagues down, and I owe everyone an apology”, and complained he will be “the number one target right now in the country” after the circumstances surrounding his shock sacking were made public. The BBC have yet to comment further on Jermaine’s dismissal.

His wife’s anger and refusal to speak to him have added to his distress, leading to sleepless nights and heightened anxiety. Jermaine confessed to making mistakes and acknowledged the need for self-reflection and accountability in light of the scandal. As Jermaine navigates the fallout from his termination, he is faced with the daunting task of rebuilding his reputation and repairing the damage caused by his actions. Despite the public scrutiny and criticism he now faces, Jermaine remains resolute in defending his character and addressing the repercussions of his behavior. The BBC’s decision to dismiss Jermaine has raised questions about workplace conduct and the boundaries of professional relationships. While the details of Jermaine’s interactions with his female colleagues remain subject to interpretation, the incident serves as a cautionary tale about the importance of maintaining respectful and appropriate behavior in the workplace.Moving forward, Jermaine Jenas must confront the consequences of his actions and work towards redemption and reconciliation. As he seeks to atone for his missteps and regain the trust of those around him, Jermaine’s journey towards personal and professional growth will undoubtedly be fraught with challenges and obstacles. Only time will tell whether Jermaine can emerge from this ordeal stronger and wiser, ready to confront the legacy of his past mistakes.
