Strictly Come Dancing have confirmed the final three names of the 2024 line-up, with a football legend, Olympian and BBC presenter completing the cast.
The One Show made the big reveal this evening, with Nick Knowles, Paul Merson and Sam Quek officially confirmed as the final trio to join the star-studded dance competition.
DIY SOS legend Nick said in an official statement: “I’m so, so excited to be doing Strictly this year. People may be more used to me getting stuck in on a building site or travelling the world, but dancing live on TV will be a whole new adventure.
“I’ve spent my whole life learning new skills and I’ve never been afraid of a challenge – there’s life in the old dog yet to take on one more big one – being taught how to dance! I’ll give it my everything …. and try not to embarrass my kids of course!”
Nick added on The One Show that his sisters are excited as they are professional dancers.
“I am literally the least talented person in the family,” he laughed.
Asked if he will get to Blackpool, he said: “I am going to really go for it.”
Arsenal legend and Sky Sports pundit Paul is equally raring to go.
The 56 year old said: “Joining Strictly is a whole new ball game for me, but I’m going to tackle this challenge head on. I’m ready to swap the pitch for the Ballroom floor, so here’s hoping my two left feet can learn some moves and you never know, maybe I’ll be taking home the Glitterball Trophy!”
Speaking on The One Show, he added: “I am sure when it starts I will be nervous. I have danced three times in my life- they were all at my wedding.”
As for Sam, the hockey legend may be an Olympic gold medallist, but the 35 year old admits she is still racked with nerves about hitting the dancefloor.
Sam added: “As a former hockey player I’m used to playing as part of a team, but the thought of dancing on the Ballroom floor in front of a live audience is quite daunting!
“I’m chuffed to be a part of this legendary show and Quickstep into the shoes of a performer, it feels absolutely surreal but I’m ready for every bit of the adventure.”
Nick, Paul and Sam will join eleven other stars who have had already been confirmed to be strutting their stuff under the glitterball.
Blind comedian Chris McCausland was first revealed by The Sun last month.
Chris lost his sight aged 22 due to a hereditary condition called retinitis pigmentosa.
Jamie Borthwick, who plays Jay Brown on EastEnders, Towie star Pete Wicks, Olympic swimmer Tom Dean, 80s pop legend Toyah Willcox and Love Island star Tasha Ghouri are also in the mix.
They will be joined by Corrie star and X Factor winner Shayne Ward, JLS singer JB Gill, Welsh opera singer Wynne Evans, TV doctor Punam Krishan, Montell Douglas, who is better known as Gladiators star Fire, and Miranda star Sarah Hadland.
Judges Shirley Ballas, Anton Du Beke, Craig Revel Horwood and Motsi Mabuse are returning to the panel, with Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly back on presenting duties.
