Sir Rod Stewart’s wife, Penny Lancaster, has returned to social media to share a heartwarming family photo.
This comes shortly after Stewart regretfully announced he would miss his landmark 200th performance in Las Vegas due to health issues.
The rock legend, who is nearing his 80th birthday, was slated to light up the stage but revealed he had suffered a significant health setback only hours before the show.
Rod shared his deep disappointment with fans, confessing: “Most people can work with strep throat but obviously not me.”
Gutted, he went on to say: “I’m absolutely gutted. I’ve been looking forward to this concert for so long.
My deepest regrets for any inconvenience this has caused. Thankfully we’ll now be returning in 2025 and I hope to see you all there.” Brightening spirits on August 17, Penny took to Instagram with an endearing family photo, simply captioning it: “Happy Memories.”, reports the Express. The picture that spread joy among their followers was initially posted by Nicola Stewart, Sir Rod’s daughter-in-law who’s married to his son Liam.
Posing merrily at the heart of the family photo, Sir Rod sported a dashing white blazer along with striped trousers, while playfully crouching next to Sean, his eldest son. Adding to the cheerful ensemble were his wife Penny, exuding elegance, and their two boys Alastair and Aiden, with his daughters Ruby and Renee Stewart also joining in on the fun. Only a month ago, the iconic musician opened up about facing mortality with courage as he talked about not allowing the fear of death to overshadow his life as he looks forward to celebrating his 80th year.
Despite acknowledging that his ” days are numbered,” he remains determined to live his remaining years to the fullest. In an interview with The Sun, Rod stated that he’s going to continue his partying ways in the final years of his life. “I’m aware my days are numbered but I’ve got no fear,” he said. “We have all got to pass on at some point, so we are all in the same basket,” Stewart continued. “I am going to be enjoying myself for these last few years as much as I can. I say few – probably another 15. I can do that easy mate, easy.” However, the father of eight, who has survived both prostate and thyroid cancer, said he’s “more aware of my health now than before”.
