Sabrina Carpenter has reacted to the rumor that she asked permission from best friend Taylor Swift to do an ad for Kim Kardashian’s SKIMS.

The  25-year-old chart topping artist touched on her friendship with the 34-year-old megastar in her Variety cover story.

Back in April, the Espresso hitmaker made waves on social media with a provocative campaign for shapewear brand SKIMS. 

Many wondered if she needed Taylor’s approval to collaborate with Kim Kardashian, given their well-known rivalry.

She addressed those assertions as she said: ‘Well, Taylor is a rock star!

‘She’s just such a gangster with all of it. No matter what people are saying, everything that I’ve ever seen her tackle, she’s done so with grace. The posts about me having to “ask for her permission” — no. She’s one of my best, best friends, and we grab dinner or text and catch up like you would with your best friend.’

Taylor and Kim, 43, have been locked in a feud since 2016, and rising star Sabrina is a close friend of Taylor’s, joining her as a support act for several dates of her Eras tour.

Following the backlash she faced for working with The Kardashians star, speaking to Rolling Stone, Sabrina previously talked about the controversial decision in June.

The Pennsylvania-born blonde insisted that the collaboration didn’t cause any bad blood between her and Taylor.

She told the publication: ‘As much as people want to believe you’re tuned into every little thing, I’m not because I’m constantly working. 

‘In that scenario, I’ve been very, very communicative with her about that situation, and I just love her so much and support her till the end.

‘So it was no weirdness for me, but I know people will just say things because that’s all they have time to do.’

Taylor and Kim’s feud began back in 2016 when Kim released a recorded phone call claiming that Taylor gave consent for her then-husband Kanye West to pen vulgar lyrics about her.

Since then both stars have made various jibes and references to the row, with Taylor particularly taking aim in her 2017 album Reputation.

The latest development came when the pop star released her 11th studio album, The Tortured Poet’s Department.

It featured a song titled Thank You Aimee — stylized as ‘thanK you aIMee,’ spelling out Kim in capital letters — which fans took to refer to Kardashian due to their previous feuding.

Meanwhile Sabrina has been dating hunky Irish actor Barry Keoghan for nearly a year.

The two have kept relatively private about their relationship despite him starring as her love-interest in her latest music video for Please Please Please.

She made a rare comment about the 31-year-old Saltburn actor as she told Variety: ‘He loved the song. He’s obsessed with the lyrics, and I’m so grateful for that.

‘I don’t want to sound biased, but I think he’s one of the best actors of this generation. So getting to see him on the screen with my song as the soundtrack made the video better and all the more special.’

Later in the interview with Thania Garcia, Sabrina addresses their celestial compatibility after passing an astrology book.

She said: ‘Barry’s a Libra, and so is my sister. They’re very different, but they have similarities. I tend to gravitate towards Leos as well.

‘My dad’s a Capricorn, so maybe that’s not the direction for my future.’

Her sophomore studio album, Short n’ Sweet is set for release on Friday, August 23.
