BBC Strictly Come Dancing judge Craig Revel Horwood looked almost unrecognisable as a throwback snap of him from the 80s was shown on This Morning during Friday’s show.
Strictly Come Dancing’s Craig Revel Horwood was barely recognisable in an old photo showcased on This Morning.
The programme’s presenters, Josie Gibson and Craig Doyle, were setting the mood with iconic 80s hits while sharing nostalgic pictures of their guests.
As they introduced the famously forthright judge, Josie said: “All morning, we’ve been dancing to the very best of the 80s floor fillers and now the disco diva himself has joined us.”
A monochrome image flashed up, capturing Craig in a dark top layered under a checkered shirt.
The 59-year-old had light stubble along his defined jawline while he posed with a sultry gaze and flaunting a mullet hairdo, reports the Mirror.
Josie couldn’t hide her surprise at the old picture, remarking: “Oh my goodness Craig!”
He responded: “It looks like I’m trying to recreate that now, I am growing the beard and I’m growing my hair just that little bit longer! Is that a bad thing?”
While Josie praised his cool vibe in the snap, her co-host probed whether he had fond memories of the 80s.
The Strictly judge reminisced: “I adored the 80s! I was so pleased that I was born in 1965 so I could enjoy the 80s in my 20s. That’s when my dance career sort of started.”
Elsewhere in their conversation, the judge opened up to the presenters about the latest drama engulfing Strictly Come Dancing after Amanda Abbington’s explosive claims against pro dancer Giovanni Pernice.
Admitting his shock at the unfolding events, Craig revealed that there is a clear separation between the judges and the show’s participants.
He explained: “We have nothing to do whatsoever with their training or how they get there to that point on Saturday night. We don’t even see the camera rehearsals on the Friday so literally come in on the Saturday and judge what we see and it’s done.”
“I just want the investigation to be over so I can find out myself the truth because I have nothing really to say. You know it’s really hard to pass judgement on ‘he said this and she said that’.
“It’s really difficult and it has erupted and of course, I’ve watched the Amanda tape and all that sort of stuff and I’m just blown away by the whole situation.”
This Morning continues weekdays on ITV from 10am.
