Hydrate or diedrate — or just get irritated? Mark Consuelos spilled on the importance of staying hydrated on Wednesday’s Live with Kelly and Mark, reading that being hydrated “makes you a better person.” Citing examples such as being more likely to help a co-worker and being in better moods, Consuelos gushed about his hydration habits, sharing that he drinks “a gallon of water a day.”
“What say you to that?” he asked Kelly Ripa. “What’s my mood like?”
Ripa replied, “I would say that your water drinking is irritating, and I’ll tell you why.”
Consuelos clapped back, “This is coming from a person who does not drink a gallon of water a day, let me just tell you right now.”
Viewers were then treated to Ripa’s explanation, as she highlighted that her husband and co-host “doesn’t just drink water,” but has “got these canteens that he carries around.” While Consuelos noted that he doesn’t “drink out of plastic,” Ripa argued he could “drink out of a water glass like the rest of society.”
“He carries these metal canteens around, and he leaves them everywhere,” she ranted.
Consuelos contested, “That means I know how many I’ve consumed.”
Ripa retorted, “How would you know that ? You leave them everywhere.”
Although Consuelos insisted that the canteens that are left around are “empties,” Ripa pointed out that she is the one left to pick them up. After Consuelos claimed that his canteens are “on [his] side,” Ripa said that is”never” on his side, pointing out that “the only ones that are on [his] side are the ones that [she has] frustratingly tossed there.”
“Anywhere he follows me around, and it’s not just that he leaves them everywhere, it’s that they rattle, so you hear him coming,” she continued. “He sounds like a dairy cow. And then he’s gotta unscrew it, and he’s always waiting for, like, when Judge Judy is issuing her ruling. That’s when he’s going to make a lot of noise. And I’m like, ‘I can’t hear what she just said.’”
Consuelos fired back, “Sounds like you don’t drink enough water, sweetie!”
Following some applause from the audience, he added, “Maybe you would be less irritated,” which garnered some pushback from the audience and Ripa — and don’t get her started about “the sound the water makes when he drinks.”
“It’s as if he’s been trapped in a desert for months and months,” she quipped, proceeding to imitate the noise. “I’m like, can’t you just swallow water like a person?”
