Cardi B has confirmed that she is pregnant with her third child, the same day it was revealed she has once again filed for divorce from on/off husband Offset.
Rumors of her pregnancy had been rife after the 31-year-old rapper was seen sporting a huge bump while filming a secret project in New York City.
In her announcement, posted to Instagram on Thursday, the rapper displayed her baby bump in a deeply plunging red gown as she posed on a balcony at night.
The divorce filing came following rumors Offset had cheated on Cardi, which he denied.
Cardi – who noticeably did not mention or tag her estranged husband Offset in the post – wrote in the caption:
‘With every ending comes a new beginning! I am so grateful to have shared this season with you, you have brought me more love, more life and most of all renewed my power!
‘Reminded me that I can have it all! You’ve reminded me that I never have to choose between life, love, and my passion! I love you so much and can not wait for you to witness what you helped me accomplish, what you pushed me to do! It’s so much easier taking life’s twists, turns and test laying down, but you, your brother and your sister have shown me why it’s worth it to push through!’
Cardi already has daughter Kulture, five, and a son, Wave, two, with Offset.
A source told Page Six the infidelity rumors were not what sparked the divorce filing.
‘They’ve grown apart. That’s what drove her to this decision more than anything else,’ an insider told Page Six. ‘This is something she wants to do.’
The reports come just one day after Offset denied he was unfaithful.
On Thursday, Offset denied that he was cheating after Instagram account Ig Model Tea Room posted a video of him sitting next to a woman called PrettyRedz at a casino, whom they claimed was his ex-girlfriend.
‘Shawty ain’t my shawty,’ the 32-year-old Style Rare rapper – who boasts 37.5M social media followers – responded via Instagram Live.
‘People really need to do the research… I’m at a public place gambling at a casino with a married 8 month pregnant woman. [What the f***] I look like being outside publicly cheating [shaking my head!’ he said during an Instagram Live.
Offset’s (born Kiari Kendrell Cephus) vehement denial of the cheating rumors wound up confusing people into thinking he was referring to his wife as pregnant, which her rep quickly denied to TMZ on Wednesday.
PrettyRedz is actually seven months pregnant with the child of her late husband Kyng Rocky, who tragically passed away on June 18.
She too denied the cheating rumors, commenting on a post about the matter for The Neighborhood Talk: ‘SMH that man wasn’t with me i was already there wit my husband sister& brother and I’m 7 months pregnant… y’all really have to stop with this type of behavior.’
She also wrote on her Instagram Stories on Tuesday: ‘It’s completely crazy that I even have to do this! Please! If not for me, please respect my late husband! I am just beginning to grieve! Having a night out with my family is definitely not an opportunity for click bait!’
‘I am carrying the last gift my husband will give this Earth! All I want is peace! If [you’re] looking for a story, there is nothing to see here! Please respect all families involved. Y’all make up things not caring about the impact! Please stop. I’m pregnant as well! You people are sick [as f***] out here [shaking my head].’
Cardi and Offset allegedly separated again last November, but they put on a strong united front at Disneyland Paris with their children on July 9.
While gracing the cover of Rolling Stone’s June issue, she spoke about their relationship and what attracted her to him.
‘When I met Offset, he was super rich and I just got my f***ing first $200,000 in the bank,’ she recalled. ‘He never made me feel like I was little to him. He actually always used to tell me, “You a f***ing superstar, watch.’”
His support was a breath of fresh air, compared to a previous partner, who she said would make her feel too loud, broke and skinny.
‘Once I cut him off and I stopped caring about what he [thought] about me, I started doing videos on Instagram. That’s how I got famous,’ the WAP hitmaker remembered.
While discussing the challenges in her marriage, the performer admitted they both had their own shortcomings.
‘We have our own bad stuff,’ she said. ‘We’re from two different worlds. Sometimes I cannot be … not that I cannot be a wife. It’s just like, my career takes my life. You know what I’m saying? My career comes first, then my kids come second. And then sometimes I don’t realize that I’m putting so many things before my relationship.’
Still, the performer says she doesn’t ‘want to grow.’
‘I remember last year when we was going through our hard time. And it’s like, ‘Put your album out. You’re overstressing. When was the last time we went on a vacation?’ And it’s like, ‘I don’t got time to go on a vacation, because this comes first.’ This comes first and then my kids come second. The little things I have to take care of then comes. I sometimes feel like I do probably put my relationship last,’ Cardi stated.
When asked if she had made a decision about her relationship, the Grammy winner explained that she and Offset are ‘best friends.’
‘We think it through, because we do love each other. It’s not even about love. We’re best friends. And it’s like, “OK. Well, there was a time that I didn’t have a best friend, or I didn’t have a support system.” It’s not even about “How do you leave a partner?’ How do you stop talking to your best friend,”‘ she explained.
Offset and Cardi (born Belcalis Almánzar) previously separated from December 5, 2018 to January 31, 2019 amid cheating allegations.
The three-time Grammy nominee and the Grammy winner went on their first date at the 2017 Super Bowl, and they’ve been married for over six years.
The Georgia-born ex-con fathered 14-year-old son Jordan Cephus with babymama #1 Oriel Jamie.
Offset also fathered nine-year-old son Kody Cephus with babymama #2 Justine Watson and nine-year-old daughter Kalea Marie Cephus with babymama #3 Shya L’amour.
The Migos alum – who gets 31.5M monthly listeners on Spotify – is next scheduled to headline the second day of Chinese music festival Hype Fest, which takes place August 11 at the Hangzhou Steelworks Park.
Offset originally began his career at age 11 in 2002 as a back-up dancer for Whitney Houston’s music video for her single Whatchulookinat.
Meanwhile, the half-Dominican, half-Trinidadian star has yet to release the sophomore follow-up to her 2018 debut studio album Invasion of Privacy.
