Olympic archer Mauro Nespoli found himself compared to Eminem while competed with Team Italy at the Paris Olympics on Monday.
The Italian athlete, 36, stepped up to the mark sporting a tight-fitting blue T-shirt as he took part in the men’s archery event.
However, his facial expressions, close cropped beard and bucket hat prompted fans viewers to make the hilarious comparison with the rapper.
Taking to X, one fan proceeded to post a snap of Mauro with the accompanying caption: ‘Italian Eminem.’
Viewers then flocked to the comment section to express their shock at the uncanny resemblance.
One viewer joked: ‘Italian Eminem eating mom’s spaghetti it all makes sense now.’; ‘You only get one shot’; ‘All the other slim shady’s are just imitating.’; ‘so accurate lmao.’; ‘Wow he is honestly looking like pro max Eminem, his more cute.’
It seems the observation has also reached Mauro, who took to his Instagram to share a hilarious post where his and Eminem’s faces were swapped.
Mauro was competing in the men’s team archery quarter-final earlier this week, however, Italy were defeated 6-2 by France.
He is ranked fifth in the world in men’s recurve archery and is a three-time Olympic medalist.
After making his international debut in 2002, he took the team silver medal at Beijing in 2008, team gold at London in 2012, and an individual silver at Tokyo in 2020.
It comes after Eminem revealed the real reason he invented his alter ego Slim Shady.
In an interview with Complex, where the rapper, born Marshall Bruce Mathers III, verbally sparred with an AI-generated version of himself, he revealed that he invented the iconic persona to resurrect his career.
In the video, entitled Slim Shady vs Marshall Mathers: The Face-Off, the rapper told his former self that he was outdated and was ready to kill him off.
He said: ‘I invented you because my life was f****d up. My music was going nowhere and I was broke.’
He added that the character had made his life worse and didn’t fix any of his problems.
He said: ‘You’re the reason I had to self-medicate. Because of you I almost lost my f*****g career, my f*****g family, my life.’
He also admitted that his life had been much better after moving away from the persona, referencing his battle with substance abuse.
The rapper has been sober for 16 years and has documented his previous struggles with alcohol and prescription drugs.
Throughout the video, the two went head to head, trading insults and comparing their careers.
Eminem, dressed in a black hoodie, grey trousers and a matching cap scolds his bleached blonde persona throughout the interview, telling his character he is outdated and offensive and defending his 20-year career.
