Prince Harry is set to inherit a substantial sum from his great-grandmother, the Queen Mother, when he turns 40.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been warned about “history repeating itself” by a royal expert who fears what the Queen Mother would make of their rift with the Royal Family, were she still alive.
This comes as Harry is due to inherit £7 million from his great-grandmother on his 40th birthday in September, as she set up a trust fund for him and Prince William before she died in 2002 aged 101.
But former royal correspondent Jennie Bond believes the old family matriarch would not be happy with the way things have turned out for the Sussexes, particularly given her close bond with Harry.
She told OK! magazine, “The Queen Mother loved her great-grandchildren and amused them by imitating Ali G. After lunch, she told the Queen, ‘Darling, lunch was marvellous – respec.’”
“But I’m afraid the Queen Mother would have been mightily disappointed to see history repeating itself as Harry fell in love with a divorced American woman and then left royal life and went to live abroad… almost in exile, like her brother in law King Edward VIII, who abdicated for the love of Wallis Simpson.
“I think she would have been angry with Meghan for some of the things that she has said, and profoundly disappointed that Harry has publicly attacked his own family.”
Prince Harry’s inheritance from the Queen Mother has once again sparked interest in the royal family and their dynamics. As he approaches his 40th birthday, the £7 million trust fund set up for him and Prince William is set to become his. However, the current rift between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle and the rest of the Royal Family has raised concerns about the potential repercussions.Royal expert Jennie Bond has expressed her reservations about how the Queen Mother would have perceived the current situation. The Queen Mother, known for her love and bond with her great-grandchildren, would have likely been disheartened by the ongoing tensions within the family. Her close relationship with Prince Harry and her playful nature, such as imitating Ali G to amuse the young royals, highlights the special connection she shared with them. The parallels drawn between Prince Harry’s decisions and those of his great-uncle, King Edward VIII, who abdicated the throne for the love of Wallis Simpson, are concerning to some observers. The idea of history repeating itself in a different context through Prince Harry’s marriage to a divorced American woman and subsequent departure from royal duties echo the past struggles faced by the royal family.Jennie Bond’s insights into the potential disappointment the Queen Mother might have felt towards Meghan Markle’s actions and Prince Harry’s public criticisms of his own family shed light on the complexities of royal relationships.
