Prince William and King Charles III had a significant disagreement over which the the heir to the throne was made to sign a ‘waiver’.
According to author Robert Jobson’s biography, “Catherine, The Princess of Wales.”
The conflict is said to have happened over Prince William’s practice of flying his family in a helicopter, which caused King Charles to be concerned, as reported by the Mirror UK.
King Charles was revealed to have cancer in February following which this disagreement happened.
King Charles had reportedly been particularly concerned about the safety of his son and grandchildren, drawing from past family tragedies.
Including a fatal helicopter crash in 1967 that haunted the royal family.
Robert Jobson’s biography sheds light on Princess Kate’s life, from her beginnings as a university student to her role as a mother of three and future queen. One of the key revelations is the tension between William and his father, Charles, who after his diagnosis, took a temporary break from official duties and became increasingly worried about the royal succession and family safety.
According to Jobson, these concerns paralleled those of the late Queen Elizabeth II, who also worried about the family’s welfare. Specifically, King Charles was troubled by William’s decision to continue flying his family around, fearing it could lead to a disaster similar to the one in 1967. This anxiety led Charles to take an unusual step.
“After being diagnosed with cancer, King Charles — perhaps reminded of his own mortality — echoed his late mother’s concerns. And when William refused to stop flying with his family, Charles insisted that he sign a formal document, acknowledging the risks involved and taking full responsibility for his actions. It would be scant consolation, of course, for an unspeakable tragedy, let alone for the prospect of King Harry and Queen Meghan…,” wrote Jobson in a passage published by the Mail Online.
