Lisa Armstrong is back with another inspirational Instagram quote and in a telling poke at ex Ant McPartlin she told women to ‘marry a man who wants to be a husband, not a man who just wants a wife’
Lisa Armstrong appeared to launch a not-so-subtle dig at ex Ant McPartlin after sharing another quote about exactly what a true husband should be.
The former couple split six years ago but it seems the makeup artist is still struggling to come to terms with the fact her ex-husband now has a son.
The new dad and wife Anne-Marie welcomed Wilder earlier this summer and now Lisa has taken to social media to discuss what’s needed to make a marriage work.
On Instagram, she advised her followers: “Marry a man who wants to be a husband, not just a wife. A husband wants to provide, protect, and fulfill your dreams, doing whatever it takes to make things work.”
“A man who just wants a wife is a man who’s only thinking about what you can do for him, and not what he can do for you.” Lisa had a difficult 2024 after splitting from her electrician boyfriend after three years together. Their parting of ways was said to have come like a ‘bolt out of the blue’ with friends gushing about how loved-up they were.
“I don’t really know what has gone wrong, the two of them were only on a swanky holiday together in the Caribbean,” the insider told the Daily Mail. “He was with her one day, and he just wasn’t with her the next day. There was no inkling that anything was wrong.”
Lisa, who has amassed a large following online, has become renowned for her blunt and often inspirational quote posts. Lisa and father-of-two James first started dating in 2020 when he was estranged from his wife after moving out of their shared home. Before dating the electrician, she was married to Ant – who is now married to Anne-Marie, the former PA of the Saturday Night Takeaway star.
Ant and Lisa called time on their relationship after two decades together six years ago. Their divorce, after over a decade of marriage, came not long after Lisa stood by Ant when his career was almost ruined following an alcohol and prescription addiction and drink-driving conviction in 2018.
Although the former couple have had some difficult times, Lisa is reportedly looking for a fresh start. A source recently told OK! Magazine that Lisa has done “a lot of healing over the past few years” and wants to make sure she is in a “good place”. The source told the publication: “Lisa knows Ant is ready to move on with the next chapter of his life – she doesn’t want to be angry anymore.
She’s done a lot of healing over the past few years and spent so much time being upset and angry about everything. It has been exhausting but she has done a lot of work on herself. It seems everyone is having a fresh start with the end of the show and Ant’s new chapter in his life, so Lisa wants to make sure she’s in a good place.”
TV presenter Ant and Lisa were married for 11 years, tying the knot in a 2006 church ceremony where, naturally, Declan Donnelly stepped up as Ant’s best man. By 2018 however, their marriage came to an end, with makeup artist Lisa filing for divorce as Ant had become ‘intolerable to live with’, according to court documents.
