Insiders say he’s focusing on more pressing matters than family drama.
With so many of its major players sidelined, the royal family is stretching itself thin this summer as events pile up, and big names like Kate Middleton and Princess Anne are out of commission for now.
According to insiders, King Charles appears to be focusing on his public appearances and trying to push all the drama between Prince Harry and Prince William to the back burner.
Historian Robert Hardman, in *Charles III: New King. New Court. The Inside Story*, told the Mirror that the monarch is deeply affected by turmoil in Buckingham Palace and Montecito.
Hardman noted that Charles believes he has done everything within his power to address the tensions and is now focused on moving forward.
According to royal insider Robert Hardman, the King is deeply saddened by Harry and Meghan’s situation but feels exasperated, having done what he can.
Now as King, he’s prioritizing other responsibilities and prefers not to dwell on the ongoing issues.
Ever since Harry and Meghan decamped from the U.K. and moved to California,
they’ve been at the center of royal drama, with members of the family seeing the duo’s interview with Oprah Winfrey and Harry & Meghan, the couple’s docu-series, as not-so-subtle critiques on the Firm. Add Harry’s memoir, Spare, to the formula, and it’s been a maelstrom of brothers fighting and conflicting stories from the palace and the Duke of Sussex.
After Charles shared his cancer diagnosis, Harry mentioned that he loved his family and that he was “grateful” for the opportunity to see his father. So, while the king may be exhausted from all the drama, there’s evidence that he’s able to overlook it for some quality time with his son.
“I jumped on a plane and went to go see him as soon as I could,” the prince said during an appearance on Good Morning America. “Look, I love my family. The fact that I was able to get on a plane and go and see him and spend any time with him, I’m grateful for that.”
