Hoda Kotb got emotional, confessing that she wakes up scared every day, blaming the TODAY show bosses. What’s the story behind it?

Hoda Kotb is savoring the precious little moments with her children after stepping away from her long-time role on Today.

The beloved television personality, 60, recently shared how she initially faced uncertainty about what life would look like post-retirement but quickly found joy in the transition.

In a heartfelt conversation, Kotb admitted that stepping away from something she had done for decades came with its share of doubts.

“I actually wasn’t sure how it was going to be,” she revealed. “When you leave something that you’ve done your whole life to then step into a Monday, you’re like,

‘Oh my God, it’s Monday. What is happening here? How is this going to feel?’”

To ease into the change, Kotb devised a structured schedule to keep herself engaged.

However, she soon realized that the greatest comfort came from an unexpected and deeply personal moment.

Reflecting on her first Monday morning as a retiree, Kotb recalled a touching interaction with her daughter, Haley. “The best thing happened first thing in the morning,” she shared. “I was sitting in my office, and my daughter Haley came running down the stairs. It was a full moon, I remember it was so bright in my office, and she goes, ‘You really are here.’ I was like, ‘I really am here.’ In that moment, confirmation comes over and over again.”

Kotb’s words highlight her newfound appreciation for life’s simple yet meaningful moments. “Here’s the thing, life is about tiny little moments. It’s about the in-betweens. It’s not about all the big things—it’s all the little things,” she explained.

Her transition from the fast-paced world of morning television to a slower, more family-focused lifestyle has been deeply fulfilling. After nearly two decades as an anchor on Today, Kotb made the emotional decision to step away from her role on January 10. The move was driven by her desire to prioritize her family and spend more quality time with her two daughters, Haley and Hope.

Throughout her career, Kotb was known for her warmth, charisma, and genuine connection with audiences. As one of the most recognizable faces in broadcast journalism, she built a loyal following and formed lasting relationships with her co-hosts and viewers. However, as she entered this new chapter of her life, she felt a calling to embrace motherhood more fully.

Kotb’s reflections echo sentiments she has shared in the past about the importance of family. Having become a mother later in life, she has always spoken openly about the profound impact her children have had on her perspective. Now, with more time at home, she is embracing the chance to be present for the little moments that she once missed due to her demanding work schedule.

Since leaving Today, Kotb has been focused on finding balance and making the most of her time with her daughters. She has expressed gratitude for the opportunity to experience everyday joys, from morning hugs to bedtime stories, without the constraints of an early morning television schedule.

Fans of Kotb have continued to show their support and admiration for her decision. Many have taken to social media to express their appreciation for her years of dedication to Today and their excitement for this new phase in her life. While she may no longer be a daily presence on morning television, Kotb’s impact and legacy remain strong.

Although she has stepped away from her anchor role, Kotb has not ruled out future projects. She has hinted that she remains open to new opportunities that align with her passions and priorities. For now, however, she is embracing the simple joys of motherhood and cherishing the moments that matter most.

Hoda Kotb’s journey is a reminder that life’s greatest joys often come in the quiet, unplanned moments. As she continues to navigate this new chapter, one thing is clear—her heart is exactly where it belongs, with her children.
