Holly Willoughby experienced an unexpected trip down memory lane during an upcoming episode of Michael McIntyre’s Big Show,
as she was reunited with her childhood sweetheart in front of a live audience.
The heartwarming yet awkward moment left the former This Morning presenter blushing as she came face-to-face with her first love, Oliver, in a surprise set up by the comedian.
A Blast from the Past
During the show, which airs on Saturday, February 22, McIntyre introduced Oliver to the stage, much to Holly’s shock.
As the audience cheered, the 44-year-old TV star giggled nervously while the comedian wasted no time in poking fun at the situation.
As McIntyre questioned Oliver about their childhood romance, he asked whether he had kept any keepsakes from their time together.
Holly, sensing something was coming, squealed, “Oh God!” before Oliver revealed that he still had a letter she had written to him many years ago.
Producing the letter from his pocket, Oliver explained that his mother had recently come across it and sent it to him just six months ago. Holly, looking stunned, exclaimed, “Oh my God, what is that?” before realizing it was a love letter from her younger self.
The Embarrassing Love Letter
At McIntyre’s insistence, Holly read the letter aloud to the audience. Written in her childhood handwriting, it read:
“Dear Oliver, how are you? Have a good time on holiday and get brown (if you can). I love you, hope you love me, and what about the photo of the naked lady Hannah was telling me about? Love, Holly.”
The letter even featured a lipstick kiss at the bottom, adding to Holly’s embarrassment. Cringing as she finished reading, she joked, “This is so embarrassing,” before burying her face in her hands. Looking at the lipstick imprint, she quipped, “It looks like I wiped my mouth with it!”
The audience erupted in laughter, while McIntyre, ever the mischief-maker, reveled in the moment, making it another unforgettable Big Show segment.
Not Holly’s First Run-In with McIntyre’s Pranks
This isn’t the first time Willoughby has found herself at the mercy of McIntyre’s sense of humor. Back in 2018, during the fourth series of Michael McIntyre’s Big Show, she took part in the famous Send to All segment, where the comedian sends an amusing text message to all contacts in a celebrity’s phone.
For Holly’s prank, McIntyre crafted a message that read:
“As you know, I am a global style icon. This Morning is doing a feature where I help people with absolutely no dress sense, and I immediately thought of you. What WAS that hideous thing you were wearing last time I saw you? Hope you won’t be offended, but could you come in with a few of your outfits for Phil and me to laugh at? In return, you’ll get a whole new wardrobe. What do you say? Need to know ASAP. Love, Holly xxx.”
The hilarious text went out to her entire contact list, including her children’s head teacher, who responded with confusion: “Yes, of course, but I’ll probably be busy with pre-prep assembly. Are my suits really that bad?”
Holly was left in stitches, though no doubt a little mortified by the unexpected responses.
A Busy Career After This Morning
Since stepping down from her long-standing role on This Morning in October 2023 after 14 years, Holly has been busy returning to TV in new and exciting roles. She made her comeback as co-host of Dancing on Ice, as well as taking on a thrilling new project with Netflix.
In Celebrity Bear Hunt, Holly joins survival expert Bear Grylls as 12 celebrities attempt to evade capture while navigating the challenging terrain of the Costa Rican jungle. Reflecting on the experience, she shared, “There were a few moments on this show where I had to dig deep and have a strong word with myself. At those times, it was good to have someone like Bear next to you saying that being brave is about using that fear, harnessing it, and doing it anyway.”
A Nostalgic and Lighthearted Moment
Despite her packed schedule, Holly Willoughby’s appearance on Michael McIntyre’s Big Show provided fans with a delightful and nostalgic moment. Her unexpected reunion with her childhood sweetheart, combined with her trademark humor and McIntyre’s comedic genius, made for a truly entertaining spectacle.
While she may have been slightly embarrassed by her childhood love letter, it was all in good fun—proving once again why she remains one of Britain’s most beloved TV personalities.
