Ofcom found that the questions were in line with the editorial direction of the programme, given that Andre’s new marriage to Emily MacDonagh was a significant news story at the time. The regulator also acknowledged the human interest angle, arguing that it was reasonable for Burley to ask about the potential impact of the new relationship on Andre’s children.

Despite the findings, the interview left a lasting impression on both the public and Peter Andre himself, with the singer later criticizing Burley’s approach. The tension during the interview highlighted the challenges of balancing journalistic integrity with sensitivity, a debate that would continue throughout Burley’s career.
