Scarlett Johansson’s Marvel character Natasha Romanov has lots of fans around the world, but her daughter Rose isn’t one of them.
The actress, who is starring on screen with Channing Tatum in Fly Me to the Moon, revealed her nine-year-old is ‘too scared’ to watch the Avengers movies or Black Widow.
‘She likes that I play Black Widow, but she’s too scared to watch an Avengers movie,’ the doting mom told People.
‘She’s just like, “It’s violent.” I’m like, “Oh God,”‘ the action star said.
The Oscar nominee shares her daughter with former husband, French journalist Romain Dauriac.
The elementary schooler seemed to be okay with her mom’s most recent role as a con artist turned marketing genius, who helps film a top secret fake moon landing for the government in 1969.
‘I think she’s excited about the hair and makeup mostly,’ the actress said.
The star added: ‘It’s just so fun… She’s girly.’
When moviegoers see the film which opened July 11 in theaters, they will see a cameo appearance from Johansson’s husband, Saturday Night Live star Colin Jost, 42.
The actress said she had nothing to do with the hiring, and it was director Greg Berlanti who wanted to include her husband of four years in the project
‘[He] was like, “Do you think Colin would want to do…?” Greg and Colin, they have a great rapport and they’re both comedy writers and, I think, they have a little bit of a similar personality in some ways,’ she explained.
‘And so I think he just really was excited to have Colin come and do a cameo. I was like, “Yeah, I’m sure if you ask him, I’m not going to ask him,”‘ she maintained.
The couple are proud parents of son Cosmo, two.
Acting together is something the couple don’t do often, even though the Asteroid City star has been a repeat guest on SNL over the years.
‘We don’t get to work together really ever because… I mean, we’ve worked together as he’s written stuff for me for SNL, but we never get to perform together.’
Johansson has been working on her first full-length feature as a director.
Eleanor the Great focuses on the unusual friendship between 90-year-old Eleanor and her new 19-year-old pal.
Scarlett Johansson’s daughter Rose seems to have mixed feelings about her mom’s character Natasha Romanov in the Marvel movies. Despite liking the fact that her mom plays Black Widow, Rose is too scared to watch the Avengers movies because she finds them too violent. It’s an interesting dynamic between a Hollywood action star and her young daughter.
On the other hand, Rose seems to be more intrigued by Scarlett Johansson’s most recent role in Fly Me to the Moon, where she plays a con artist turned marketing genius. Perhaps it’s the hair and makeup aspect of the role that excites the nine-year-old. It’s always fascinating to see how children perceive their parent’s work in the entertainment industry.
Adding to the family affair in Scarlett Johansson’s projects, her husband Colin Jost makes a cameo appearance in Fly Me to the Moon. The couple, who rarely work together, seem to have a natural rapport and similar personalities according to the actress. It must be fun for them to share the screen, even if it’s just for a brief moment.
It’s also worth mentioning that Scarlett Johansson is venturing into directing with her first full-length feature film, Eleanor the Great. The movie focuses on an unusual friendship between a 90-year-old woman and a 19-year-old. It’s always exciting to see actors exploring different facets of the filmmaking process.
As fans eagerly anticipate Scarlett Johansson’s future projects, it’s clear that she has a supportive family behind her. Stay tuned for more updates on the actress’s career and personal life!
