David Schwimmer enraged Rod Stewart after revealing details of Stewart’s divorce settlement with his ex-wife: “Don’t think you can hide this from everyone…”

David Schwimmer, widely known for his role as Ross Geller on the iconic sitcom Friends,

recently shared a surprising revelation about a unique encounter from his past.

During an appearance on Monday’s episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Schwimmer disclosed

that he once served Grammy-winning music legend Rod Stewart with divorce papers.

Reflecting on the incident, the actor admitted he isn’t sure Stewart even knows about their brief interaction.

“Thank goodness I’ve never run into him since, but I served Rod Stewart.

I don’t even know if he knows. I don’t think he knows,” Schwimmer shared with host Stephen Colbert.

A “Banana Job” from His College Days

Before achieving fame and fortune on Friends, Schwimmer worked a variety of odd jobs, or as he put it, “banana jobs.” One of these unconventional roles came about during the summer after his freshman year of college, when he became a process server for his mother, a divorce lawyer.

“My mom said, ‘Well, you can be a process server for me,’” Schwimmer explained. “I was the guy who would pop out of the bushes and serve you divorce papers.”

At just 18 years old, Schwimmer found himself delivering legal documents to unsuspecting recipients, including one of the world’s most recognizable rock stars.

Colbert’s Playful Reaction

Stephen Colbert couldn’t resist adding some humor to the story. With his trademark wit, the host joked about the potential fallout of Schwimmer’s revelation. “He knows now!” Colbert teased, suggesting that Rod Stewart might not be thrilled to learn this tidbit of history.

The late-night host even jokingly advised Schwimmer to prepare for a possible encounter with the music icon. “You could theoretically run into Rod Stewart sometime! Now he knows to punch you,” Colbert quipped, adding a playful warning to “change [his] locks” since Stewart is “vengeful.”

Schwimmer laughed off the comments, but it was clear that the actor has no intention of crossing paths with Stewart anytime soon.

The Mystery of Stewart’s Divorce

While Schwimmer didn’t specify which of Stewart’s divorces he was involved in serving papers for, the timing offers some clues. At 18, Schwimmer would have been serving papers in the mid-1980s, which aligns with Stewart’s split from his first wife, Alana Stewart. The couple divorced in 1984 after nine years of marriage.

Whether or not Stewart remembers the young college student who handed him the life-altering documents, Schwimmer’s anecdote adds an unexpected chapter to both their stories.

From Process Server to Hollywood Star

Schwimmer’s tale is just one example of the many unusual jobs he held before landing his breakout role on Friends. Reflecting on his early career, he noted that these experiences helped shape his perspective and work ethic.

“Looking back, I think those jobs taught me a lot about people and resilience,” Schwimmer said during the interview.

A Lighthearted Moment

The story provided a refreshing glimpse into Schwimmer’s pre-Hollywood days and highlighted his ability to laugh at the unexpected twists and turns of his life. It also reminded viewers that even the most celebrated stars often come from humble beginnings.

As for Rod Stewart, it remains to be seen whether he remembers the encounter or if Schwimmer’s revelation will jog his memory. Either way, fans of both Schwimmer and Stewart have been entertained by the lighthearted tale, and it’s likely that neither will forget this moment anytime soon.

Whether they ever cross paths again is uncertain, but for now, the story serves as a humorous reminder of Schwimmer’s journey from process server to beloved sitcom star.
