Keke Palmer “wiped tears away” while revealing she was “thre@tened in a terrifying way” at just 12 years old—and the culprit was none other than her own mother: “I was truly desperate…”

Elon Musk has raised concerns about the death of former OpenAI researcher Suchir Balaji,

who was found dead by suicide on November 26, 2024, three months

after he accused the company of violating copyright laws in its development of ChatGPT.

The tragic incident has sparked intense scrutiny,

especially as Balaji’s parents continue to question the circumstances surrounding their son’s death.

Balaji, 26, was discovered by police in his home after they conducted a wellness check.

While officials ruled the cause of death a suicide, citing no evidence of foul play at the scene, his parents, Poornima Ramarao and Balaji Ramamurthy, have voiced doubts about the findings. They have called for the FBI to investigate, claiming that the situation doesn’t seem typical. They assert that there were signs of a struggle, including blood found in the bathroom, and questioned the absence of a suicide note.

In December 2024, Musk, the co-founder of OpenAI, expressed his doubts about the ruling, posting on X, “This doesn’t seem like a suicide.” His comment further fueled speculation about the death, especially considering the ongoing tensions between Musk and OpenAI. Musk has been vocal in criticizing OpenAI’s transformation from a nonprofit organization to a commercial enterprise, accusing the company of betraying its original mission. Since 2018, when OpenAI rejected Musk’s offer to buy the company, he has been at odds with CEO Sam Altman and the organization as a whole.

Balaji’s parents have maintained that their son was deeply troubled by OpenAI’s shift toward profit-driven motives. According to his mother, Poornima, Suchir was initially drawn to the organization due to its nonprofit nature and its mission to develop artificial intelligence for the benefit of humanity. However, when OpenAI went public, Balaji’s concerns grew, and he began questioning the ethical implications of the company’s actions. His parents believe this shift in the company’s direction contributed to his disillusionment and, potentially, his untimely death.

Balaji’s death occurred shortly after he had left OpenAI in August 2024. He had been with the company since 2020, working as a researcher on AI development. During his time at OpenAI, Balaji became increasingly vocal about his concerns regarding the potential dangers of AI. Specifically, he accused OpenAI of using copyrighted materials without proper authorization in the training of its AI models, such as ChatGPT. Balaji had also grown disillusioned with the company’s approach, which he believed would ultimately harm society rather than benefit it. In an interview with *The New York Times*, he expressed that he could no longer support technologies he felt would cause more harm than good.

His expertise and knowledge were seen as critical to ongoing legal disputes against OpenAI, including a high-profile lawsuit filed by *The New York Times* against the company and its partner, Microsoft. The lawsuit accused OpenAI and Microsoft of using millions of published articles to train their AI models without compensating the creators. Balaji was named as someone with crucial documents that could aid in the litigation, further highlighting his significant role in the legal battles surrounding OpenAI.

Despite the official ruling on Balaji’s death, his parents have expressed deep skepticism. They believe that their son’s death was not a straightforward suicide, particularly given his upbeat demeanor in his final phone call with them just days before his passing. His father, Balaji Ramamurthy, stated that Suchir had made plans to visit them in January and showed no signs of depression or distress during their conversation. This has led the family to question the police’s conclusions and demand a more thorough investigation.

Elon Musk has also been outspoken about OpenAI’s shift from a nonprofit to a for-profit entity, which he claims contradicts the original mission of the organization. Musk has long been a critic of OpenAI’s direction, emphasizing the importance of developing artificial intelligence in a way that serves humanity’s best interests, rather than just financial gain. Balaji’s concerns about OpenAI’s new direction align with Musk’s criticisms, and the two have become unlikely allies in questioning the ethics of AI development and its potential consequences.

Balaji’s tragic death has brought attention to the ethical dilemmas surrounding AI technology, including concerns about intellectual property rights, transparency, and the broader societal impacts of AI-driven innovations. As the legal battles continue and the investigation into Balaji’s death unfolds, the broader conversation about AI’s role in society and the responsibility of companies like OpenAI remains more urgent than ever.

The family’s demand for an FBI investigation into the circumstances of Suchir Balaji’s death is not only a plea for justice but also a call to examine the ethical practices of one of the world’s most influential AI companies. As the public continues to process the events surrounding his death, it remains to be seen whether further inquiries will shed light on the true story behind Balaji’s untimely passing.
